Forgive me for not necessarily having something concerning actually discussing the Bible. However, I felt the need to somehow address this, and I was unsure of what category it should be placed under. I have only been here for about a day, and I have already come across several threads with debates that are lasting a very long time! Wow, did not expect to come to this! But I guess I should have, oh well. Anyway, from what I have observed these debates continue to go on all due to personal interpretation of the Scriptures. People use the same verses to try to convince the other that the way they think it is true. However, no one is really coming to any conclusions, now are they? It seems like we never will, because well, we just think differently. I just wanted to send out a friendly reminder that we all were probably raised differently, and under different religions. Different religions have different views. I just wanted to give everyone a friendly reminder not to judge anyone too harshly for not understanding your view. Remember to use loving words, and treat them how you would like to be treated.

But something for us all to remember is our Father's love, and how we should display that love towards others. Always remember:
[h=3]1 Corinthians 13:4-7[/h]New International Version (NIV)

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

I know I am young, and I still have much to learn. But I just would like everyone to keep that in mind uwu. He wants us to love and help each other, to guide each other, not say things to each other harshly. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ.

Have a lovely day(or evening) and God Bless c:.

I've seen a number of these posts put up here. I put one up myself once. I've never seen one do any good whatsoever. Some people just enjoy the fighting.

I haven't put anything up yet, but if I do, I will back it up so that it makes perfect sense and follows the Bible to the letter! If I don't understand something, I'll say so. I think this reference is talking about this but I can't show evidence about it being absolute. If I can, you'll be able to see why it's so.

I too have spoken of this matter a number of times, but like previously Posted People just like the fighting. No one is willing to back down nor are they willing to try to see and understand another persons point of view, even I am guilty of this. But I always say to encourage one another and help each other, not condemn and say oh your wrong I'm right that's all there is too it. People use scripture as a weapon against each other and twist it to fit their own beliefs and ways of doing things. This is not how Christ Intended the church to be.....

There's nothing wrong with a good debate, as long as we don't resort to personal attacks and respect each other. We do not necessarily have to come to a conclusion, as long as we can agree to disagree and 'shake hands' at the end of a discussion. Heated debates make some CC-members uncomfortable, I understand, but at the same time I think there should be room for such discussions. It's interesting to have a an in-depth discussion about a (biblical) topic sometimes, for that I go to Bible Study Room. For a chat about 'cats and bacon' I just visit Lounge. ;)

I've visited this site from afar for awhile, and to be honest, the "debates" are pretty tame compared to a particular site that I used to visit. So far, the discussion seems to be about the topic itself, and not getting personal or combative. If I see any like that on here, I won't be participating in them, instead skipping to the ones that are promoting life and building up the Kingdom in one another.

Titus 3:9 "But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless.

2 Timothy 2:3 "Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.

People may not shift positions in the middle of a thread especially
if they make it personal....but it does do good in the long haul.
People do change their positions quite often after they realize they were wrong
or does that only happen to me?

The same happens to me sometimes as well We should test everything we here, whether it be online, or even from our pastors. Let the Spirit confirm or deny what we hear. Sometimes it takes prayer and research away from the discussion itself to get a clear perspective on things. That way, I know its from God; not myself or others.
