A daily podcast put out by Issues Etc., a ministry from the LCMS, recently examined a Joel Osteen sermon, "Stay In The Game".
They have some helpful guidelines on what to listen for in sermons.

1. How often is Jesus mentioned?
2. Is Jesus the subject of the verbs?
3. What are those verbs?
