What format will Jesus use to rule during the millennial period? What principles does this "iron rod" represent? We know that is not literal, because Christ will not grab an iron rod and beat us over the head with it literally. Base your comments on scripture rather than simply opinion if at all possible.

I would ask politely that website links not be used and to base your comments strictly on the Bible, Genesis through Revelation, so that this thread will be based on the Biblical writings we have had for centuries.

Ps. 2:9 echoed in Rev. 2:27 defines the purpose. It is to shatter the unworthy things made by human in place of God. Is. 29:16 proves the image applies to the fraudulent work of man. Jer. 18, Lam. 4:2 and Is. 64:8 proves His desire to reform us for His purpose are expressed by this symbol. When He finally comes, He will judge and shatter, the reformation period of these thousand of years will be over, hence the prophecy being placed in Revelation. Rom. 9:21-23 echoes this interpretation.

Psalm 2:9 (KJV)
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
Jeremiah 18:18 (KJV)
[SUP]18 [/SUP]Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.
Romans 9:21-23 (KJV)
[SUP]21 [/SUP]Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?
[SUP]22 [/SUP]What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
[SUP]23 [/SUP]And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory,

Very well said I think. Could we add Malachi 3:6 to broaden our understanding of His righteous judgment?
[SUP]6 [/SUP]For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

I think the "iron rod" are the ordinances that God has issued to us, through His Word, from the very beginning of time
Psalm 89:28-35 (KJV)

[SUP]28 [/SUP]My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.
[SUP]29 [/SUP]His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
[SUP]30 [/SUP]If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
[SUP]31 [/SUP]If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
[SUP]32 [/SUP]Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.
[SUP]33 [/SUP]Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.
[SUP]34 [/SUP]My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
[SUP]35 [/SUP]Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie unto David.

Jesus Christ is absolutely inflexible about His Law. He is not tolerant of intentional Law Breaking, but is patient and forgiving of an attitude to do right but making mistakes.

Zechariah14:
[SUP]1[/SUP] A day of the LORD is coming
[SUP] 6[/SUP] On that day there will beneither sunlight nor cold, frosty darkness.
[SUP]7[/SUP] It will be a unique day—a day known only to the LORD—with nodistinction between day and night. When evening comes, there will be light
[SUP]9[/SUP] The LORD will be king over the whole earth. On that day therewill be one LORD, and his name the only name.
Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on theirfeet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in theirmouths. [SUP]13[/SUP]On that day people will be stricken by the LORD with great panic. They willseize each other by the hand and attack one another.

Wouldn't the "iron rod" be about how those ordinances are enforced?

This is very true, unfortunatly. Some will only learn from the school of hard knocks...

Isa 66:15 For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.
Isa 66:16 For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
Isa 66:17 They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine's flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.
Isa 66:18 For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

Guess what He will teach them...

Isa 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

Zec 14:16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Zec 14:17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.
Zec 14:18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Zec 14:19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles.

Yes. I have seen God's ordinances in 3 parts for about the last 30 years. Sacrificial=completion in, and through Christ. Moral=our reaction in reciprocating love toward Him. Judgmental=blessing, chastisement, and curses. I believe it will be the same format as the writings of Moses. God's way is perfect, and Jesus clarifies His Fathers perfection for His chosen .

Isaiah 65:17-20 (KJV)
[SUP]17 [/SUP]For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

Adding to or subtracting from God's creation is sin.

well, the entire premise that there's a temporary kingdom on earth with Jesus ruling with a rod of iron from old Jerusalem for exactly 1,000 years doesn't exist in scripture.

anywhere.

so, the debate is off in a dispensational made-up scenario:)
that's why peeps can't figure out the iron scepter.

I'm sure you got something to offer, so could I ask you what these scriptures are taking about?
And may I ask you to present scripture to endorse your thoughts also?
Thank you. God bless

Revelation 20:1-8 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
[SUP]4 [/SUP]And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
[SUP]8 [/SUP]And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

Again peeps love the lamb, but often forget that He is The "Lion" of the tribe of Judah. You don't pet lions. Ask oh whats his name the vegas guy with the white tiger, any way you get the drift.

I will try explain like this. A flight instructor told me once. He said " Son there is old pilots and bold pilots, but there ain't no old bold pilots". The lamb has lions teeth and He bites. In other words love the lamb, respect the lion. Americans have accepted the lamb, but have absolutely no fear of lion.

Isaiah 11:1-4 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
[SUP]2 [/SUP]And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
[SUP]3 [/SUP]And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
[SUP]4 [/SUP]But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

Four things to put together.
1. Prophecy concerning the throne of David.
2. Jesus being born at the right time.
3.The writings of the law and prophets will stay intact until heaven and earth is utterly destroyed.
4. the new comes after the 1000 years

Isaiah 65:17-19 (KJV)
[SUP]17 [/SUP]For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]But be ye glad and rejoice for ever in that which I create: for, behold, I create Jerusalem a rejoicing, and her people a joy.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.
