It's out of fun for me, although I do see how they could possibly accurately display some strong points of a person's personality, but the person would have to be perfectly honest in their answers. Some people convince themselves they are new age prophets or something special and will answer based on that fallacious belief they hold of themselves. The 1-5 "strongly disagree to strongly agree" aspect of answering makes it even less valid though and as far as any practical use for the tests, I don't see one. Just for fun for me.

I took it "just for fun", but I have to admit, I think it is right on for me:

#1 - Administration
#2 - Discernment
#3 - Tie between Wisdom & Faith

I DEFINITELY have the gift of administration -- I've worked in administration in one capacity or another all my life.

True this Test is a bit different than others I have taken, But I was as honest as I could be in it. True that this Test doesn't mean 100% that is your gifts. but It also may be very true for you depending on the person and the honesty in it

Well Rachel I believe that there is not gift better than the other as they all serve God in his kingdom. And I have to disagree with you on women not being pastors. I believe considering your scores and if this test actually is good at letting you know your gifts that you may very well have been meant to be a pastor. Also Pastor is also being a shepherd, so if you are to not be a pastor you may very well be used by God to shepherd his sheep.

Sorry, Blain, but you're going to lose this argument -- women definitely should NOT be pastors... So Rachel is right.

BTW, my lowest score was in giving... well, I don't have any money, so I guess I'm not gifted in giving -- lol!

Why can they not be Pastors? Also my giving wasn't too high either. I love to give money to the needy but I hardly have any to give but what little I have I try to give away when they oppertunity arises. Yesterday I gave some money away but I could have given more

I don't care for these types of tests. I've seen several. They seem kind of dumb. Some of them ask you something along the lines of how gifted you feel in some area, and then give you a percentage score back. Or they equate desires, interests, etc. with spiritual gifts. Getting on other people's cases doesn't make you a prophet. The ability to start new things doesn't make you an apostle. Having degrees of apostolic gifts without being an apostle doesn't make much sense to me, either.

I was at a ministry men's shelter hanging out with a friend to study the Bible there after lights out one time. One of the men who volunteered there was a plumber who'd dropped out of college. He had recently decided to follow Christ and had some demonic problems beforehand, I heard. He also battled depression. He had just taken a spiritual gifts tests, and he was severely depressed about it. According to the test, all he could do was help with the physical structure of the church, like plumbing. I think he was at the shelter to fix a leak anyway. That depressed him greatly. I tried to tell him those tests didn't mean much. Moses could hardly talk, or that is how he perceived himself, but God made him a prophet.

About a year later, I saw him. He was excited about how he was having so many opportunities to minister to people, to share the Gospel, to pray with people.

I didn't care for those kinds of tests before that, and I still don't.

Btw, I think my strongest gift is teaching. I have gotten words of knowledge in the past, usually when praying with people. At times I'll pray about needs I couldn't naturally know about. It's freaked a few people out. I didn't even know what was going on when it first started happening.

The Bible doesn't say much about the role of 'pastors' in the church. It says a lot more about the role of the elders of the church, also called overseers (bishops.) One requirement is that they be the 'husband of one wife.' Acts 20 and I Peter 3 commands elders to 'pastor the church of God.' Maybe there are people gifted to pastor and teach others who aren't 'ordained' or official leaders that we might say are gifted as 'pastors' but not ordained as overseers.

Our terminology got all messed up because of Geneva city government and the early Presbyterians. The Genevans looked for a model for governmetn and found examples of 'garousia' elders in Christian communities in Syria and North Africa in the fourth century, so they had 'elders' of the city who weren't ordained as elders of the church. The German word for elder got used to refer to Old Testament priests as well. This was a confusing term in Germanic languages, which uses 'priest' for OT kohen, though the word derives from the Greek word for elder in the New Testament 'presbuteros.' We ended up with sayings like 'the priesthood of all believers' which makes sense if you are thinking of a sacerdote, but isn't Biblical if you mean the presbytership of all believers.

Calvin and the Genevans called their church elders 'pastors' and used a word for 'elders' for their city officials. But since they tried to have a type of theocracy, the city elders were active int he church. Knox knew Calvin and the Scottish Presbyterians imitated the Geneva model on a national scale. You ended up with ordained 'pastors' considered to be Biblical elders ministering in 'the word and sacrament' and unordained board 'elders' that did not correspond to the way 'elder' was used in scripture. The doctirnal statements of the early Scottish Presbtyterians associated the elder verses with the 'pastors' and the church elders with such things as 'governments' in I Corinthians 12. Over time, though, they started thinking their 'elders' were what the Bible was talking about, which has created immense confusion to this day.

- People don't connect their local church ministry with scripture.
- Many people, church leaders even, don't think there are any requirements for being a 'pastor' since the requirements are for elder/overseer.
- Some churches have board 'elders' that don't pastor people.

It's kind of a mess.

Come on people what test did Gideon take. What program did David follow for God to pick Him. You left out the Holy Spirit in your man made test. God always uses the least likely in mans eyes.
