Just trying to get into the psyche of we Jesus folks.

Why are you so gung-ho for following God now?

Is it because your job is great, your life is great, your wife is great, your kids are great ?

And, what would happen to your faith IF the Enemy attacked you, like Satan did do Job?

Would you still praise God in the rags of a life you are NOW in , far gone from the riches life you had before, like Job .

Would you still praise God if something happened to your kids--they died, suddenly?

Would you still praise God if your body suddenly became infected with an affliction that will NOT LET GO, like you back, suddenly going bad?

These things have happened, we all know, life is like this, we deteriorate. So, if something BAD happened to you, would you still Love Jesus the same as NOW when everything is going goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood ? :)

Would you? Why ?

Paul continued to Love Jesus, by the way, even after he developed a 'thorn in his flesh,' or, an affliction, that would NOT LET PAUL GO, and, Job, too, kept on staying true to God, despite sooo much opposition from his wife ("Curse God and die," she said, after boils on Job's body, kids killed in tornado, thousands of livestock all destroyed).

Will you ? What will keep you trusting in Him when the whole world around you crashes ?

I pray this thread does not bring doubt to you; that is, certainly, not my intention to make you doubt your faith. The Lord leads. He does ALL the convicting of those in the world that do not know Him and are drawn to Him.

We should KNOW, though, that our hope is in Jesus, our life is in the Lord no matter what, it should be, anyway, and, by His might and by His power, and, by His Love, we are able to KNOW that with Him we can get through anything that The Devil is allowed by God to offer in, or, that God brings to our life to grow us in the faith He gave us :)

What else 'by' do we know why that we can have confidence in Christ coming back one day to take us home, or, that when our mortal bodies die that His Spirit in us will bring us home to Him way up high ? :)

Just one Scripture, not to get us off topic, but comfort and peace is part of our knowing we are one day GOING Home with Him .

From Romans 8

If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.

Luke 22 31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” (Jesus has told them when they have turn back which means that they are going to stray from the faith during the time of testing but Jesus has prayed for them not fail which means satan will not keep them away too long).

I don't want this to be a doctrine thread, but, yes, enlightening, your verses are received. I will say this, that when the Most High has us in the shelter of His wings, we are protected, Satan can NOT touch us THERE.

I do like this verse that Paul says: I know Whom I have believed and I am persuaded....

2 Timothy 1:12
For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.
This is a great definition of the hope that we have in Him for our salvation that we race toward, as He leads us, at a crawl, walk, run, or, even, at times, standing still, and, still moving toward Him :)

It won't if we believe on Him, crossnoted, and, keep hope alive in us that is Him in us, and, He having shown us through our faith and by His grace our way Home :)

Be confident, truly confident of Christ in you, He is NEVER going to leave you nor forsake you. Choose Him, I know you can. :)
Be confident in Christ, what you know of your life past, how He saved you, how He's leading you now, and, choose Him . If you are His now, you are His. :)

And, if not able to vote that way, or, not able to vote, that's OK, the Lord leads, His Spirit in us reveals truth in us all, but, be assured, like Paul, that we not only have the mind of Christ, but we have the confidence in Christ--our faith in Him--that has gained us eternal glory with Him one day, this hope in us, that was in Paul, that was in all who lived on this Earth after Christ saved us from ALL our sins, and, yes, yes, yes, know this know this, know this, He saved us from DEATH too. I know He did. He saved you, He saved me, He gave all the ability to be saved, Christ died for aLL sinners on that cross, every last human on planet Earth :)

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
(Joh 15:13)

His indwelling Spirit follows that event.

My faith is like seaweed tossed around in the waves.... Back and fourth, around and around. All I can do is pray God won't give up on me and let me go. BTW, seaweed in the waves is very amazing to watch if you can get a good view and it's a very wave prone spot... like an octopus going up, down, then back around and up...

That's hard to do... ya gotta be very conscious about it and even then, I don't know if I'm just saying the words and believing otherwise.

Well I don't have kids, or anyone of any real significance in my life but we all die someday... I actually wonder why people let it bother them so much. Like the bible says, the day of your death is better than the day of your birth. Sure it's sad for those left behind but... 200 hundred years from now... they'll get over it.

Hmm... God know's you're breaking point and for myself, something like that would push me over the edge for sure. It would definitely have me clinging to him more but I can't say there would be any joy in my life till I finally died.

Honestly, I feel like I love him more when things are bad just cause... well, when you're underwater and trying to reach the surface, the longer you're under, the more you frantically try to get to that air. When you're swimming on top, breathing air.. you're calm and take the air you're breathing for granted. Jesus is air and I tend to want it more when I'm drowning...

Is trusting the same thing as hoping? I keep hoping in him... I see trusting as stepping into an elevator. You know you'll be safe walking off cause you can actually see the elevator and know it can support you. Hoping is like walking into the same elevator but you're blindfolded... maybe it won't be there and you'll fall... maybe it's not level and there's a bit of a drop... you don't know you can't see it... I mean I guess people call that trust too but... whatever... as I said, I hope more when the world IS falling down.

Yes, yes, "His Love," excellent, crossnoted, that act on Calvary, what a great thing happened on that old rugged cross for us all.

His grace. God gave us His grace through that great act of mercy and Love for us, propitiation for our sins. Enemies of Him , He sent His only begotten Son to die for us so we could be freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, of sin, of death. The cross meant life forevermore with Jesus :)

Aces, great honest answers, as we trust Him more through faith, as Abraham, as Isaac, as Joseph, as Moses, as Noah, we become more entrenched in His will for our life and His hope that is ours for the taking. We have hope in Him. :)

This was an answer that makes perfect sense for 'knowing' and 'hoping,' we hope in the Lord, we know that He is there for us in this life, through faith. One is 'hope,' and, one is 'faith' in Him and account of what's been seen, through faith, done in our life.
Hebrews 11:1 is a great verse of hope and faith: Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Well said, aces ! The Lord leads, He loves it when we spill out our soul of how we really will be doing when the going gets tough. I've been there, too, and, like you said, we want 'air' which is Jesus, when things suddenly changed--for the worse--and we were not in the same kind of life we once were. It's happened to me and, in some sense, at some time, I bet, either large or small scale, we can all say that the ebb and flow of life has shown us times of prosperity and times of want, just like Paul says in one of my favorite verses, Phil. 4:12. :)

I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
but, yes, the elevator 'trust' and 'hope' example was good, being blindfolded walking where someone leads you is a situation of trust, and, really, you hope that the person is not doing something bad to you. Your trust is in them and you sure hope they ain't locking you in there somehow. Not that you would die, but, hopefully , the point is understood :)
