Why are you asking this brother? If it's for curiosity, that's cool. If it's because you're thinking about killing yourself,
You should not do that! From the Word: "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body."" 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Trust in God! He has your future planned out, full of amazing things. Just seek after him! "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart."" Jeremiah 29:11. Context: God talking about his plan for the people of Israel. Check out Philippians 1:19-26 to see how Paul dealt with wanting to die. He was in prison at the time, and was having a pretty rough go at it. Also, if you're in for a longer read, check out the book of Job. It's all about a guy who gets broken down to nothing, but perserveres and continues to trust in God. In the end, both of these guys were blessed and rewarded for their perseverance. Now, to specifically address your question -- I think it is mostly nonsensical. Suicide, as it is commonly used, refers to killing oneself when you are unable to deal with the state of your existence. Through God a Christian can cope with anything, so they wouldn't commit suicide. However, should a weak Christian give in to Satan and decide to kill himself, I still believe he would go to Heaven. How your life ends doesn't change the fact that Jesus bought you, and washed your sins away. If you have any questions, or just need to talk, just PM me. God bless you brother! - Christopher |

I'm just winging it here.
There is a commandment that says thou shall not murder. I'd think killing yourself would pretty much violate that commandment and would be indicative of a rebellious heart not submitted to God. But there is another side to the coin we should look at here. Some people suffer from extreme mental illness. Almost to the point they can't be held accountable for their actions. They've lost grasp with reality and just can't function. I'd view this as an extreme situation. If someone has reached this extreme mental state where they've just lost grasp on reality and can't be held accountable, and they go and kill themselves, I personally would like to think God takes that in to consideration. That's more of a reasoned wish on my part, than anything founded in scripture, so take that in to consideration.

Jesus says there is only one unforgiveable sin.
That is blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. Besides that all sins can be forgiven through Christ. If someone is truly a Christian then they will be committing a great sin against God by killing themself. They will be detroying the life God has entrusted to them. They will be doing this while knowing they are wrong. This is a great and horrible sin but it is one that God can forgive in his mercy. |

29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness, full of envy, murders, debate, deceit, malignity; whispers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they that commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. 1st Corinthians 6:9-10 9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornication, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind. 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. Revelation 21:7-8 7 He that overcomes shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. The Bible clearly tells us that no murderer will inherit the Kingdom of God, even if the life you take is your own. |

Jesus is able to forgive suicide. The only sin that cannot be forgiven is blasphemy of the Holy Ghost. You cannot name another sin that is unforgiveable if Christ was telling the truth when he said "all things will be forgiven except blasphemy of the Holy Ghost".

Both MerryHeart & StillWaters have made some great points here. I know this may sound strange to some but I have wondered in the past... Had Judas had not killed himself, if he had whole heartedly asked for forgiveness,, would he have been forgiven? I like to think so however, just as MerryHeart mentioned, how can you repent when you are no longer alive to do so?

i think that a person who kills himself has to have a mental handicap, unless it was just for attention and went too far. That being said i cant believe that God who knows all ,would condemn a person with an illness that caused their death, which is what depression is... any more than He would condemn a person who died from cancer...

Romans 3:25 Whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that were past; through the forbearance of God. If we continue to sin after salvation then we are not truly saved or have backsliden. Titus 1:16 They profess that they know God: but in works they do deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. Hebrews 10:26-27 26 For if we willfully sin after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation that shall devour the adversaries. 1st John 1:6 If we say we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not know the truth. 1st John 2:4 He that says, I know Him, and keeps not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. If we willfully commit murder and then die with repentance we will not go to Heaven |

By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 10:10 We cannot do anything that has something do to with our salvtion. The confessing is the condition for a holy life and it is for the relationship to the father. But repentence does not save you. Furthermore it says "confess" in 1. John. Satan mixes things up. It is so important to discern. My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous 1. John 2:1 The more interesting question is wether a real believer could do this. And have in mind: God judges saved persons with physical death because of certain reasons. When there witness is dead for example and they stopped to confess. A believer can fall into sin and he can do this: And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30 |

They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

Amen Merryheart, Amen. Even though I would disagree with your statement about turning away from Christ, as I do not believe that is even possible. Suicide is not the unpardonable sin. But it will be quite a sad moment in front of the judgment seat of Christ when one explains to Him why they decided to step out of God's will and do something so sinful. But God forgives sin. He has forgiven plenty of murderers, but suicide is never the right thing to do. Life is such a wonderful thing God has given us, and we should be good and faithful stewards of it. |
