The gospel is the Good News

The bad news:
We are all sinners. Sin separates us from God. The penalty for sin is death.

The good news:
God loved the world so much that He sent His son to die for our sins,
so that all who believe in him may have their sins forgiven, be reunited with God, and have everlasting life.

I think there was a similar post yesterday so I'll give the same answer.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

I'm a firm believer in the apostle Paul's approach.

Most important question, can you answer it? Can you explain it? There are multiple resources that can help, but I am a firm believer in Greg Gilbert's approach too.

The power of God unto salvation for all who believe that Christ is THE way, THE truth, and THE life... the only begotten of the father who sacrificed himself; came as God to earth and became a man so that we, through faith, might be saved.

I think that if we put the gospel into everyday language of our day, it is simply that we need Christ.

Further explanation would be we are born in sin through Adam, and because God cannot live with sin in His world, we must be cleansed of sin to live with the reality and goodness of God.

The only way to be cleansed is through what Christ did on the cross.

Christ does it all, but we do have a part in it. It is to give up our self will and accept God's will for us, with absolute faith in that will lead us to truth, goodness, happiness, contentment, and all that is good.

How does sin separate us from God? Where is that in the Bible exactly?

I think it's there but I wanted to examine it and couldn't think of where it might be.

Adam separated himself from God by hiding. But with that sin on his person, God still sought him out, and cleaned him and clothed him, just like the prodigal's father cleaned and fed him.

I don't think sin separates God from us, but causes us to run from God. That is why Christ on the cross was important. There was nothing magical that forced an Omnipotent God to change his views or desires on us. It was to remove our guilt and fear so that we could come home. Like Adam should have, and like the Prodigal did.

again, 1 j 4:16-18.

If you are simply looking for a definition of the word, "Gospel," I just looked it up in my dictionary and am recalling what they taught me as a child in church. I would say the Gospel is the story of Jesus Christ. There are four "Gospels," Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, the four books that document the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Now if you are looking for the theology of the Gospel, that would be a bigger topic.

The gospel is Christ's accomplished work in His ministry, His death, burial, and bodily resurrection for the justification of those who turn to Him in faith.
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1).

respectfully, how does that answer his question?

If you mean gospel, it means good news. But if you want it to be more specific, then it is the good news that Christians share about Jesus dying on the cross for our sins and rising on the third day. The person hearing needs to be respond to it, whether they will say yes, no, maybe, etc. But a response is needed. Also, the gospel is meant to be lived not just preached. God bless.

The Gospel is totally and completely God's doing for us in Christ.
Our response is not the gospel but rather our response is simply that...our response to the Gospel.

The gospel?

From Wikipedia...

The word gospel derives from the Old English gōd-spell [11] (rarely godspel), meaning "good news" or "glad tidings".

The Gospel is the good news of the coming Kingdom of God...

Mat 4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

Mat 9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

The death, burial, and most importantly, the resurrection of Christ.
It's very simple, and for a reason: so that even a little child can comprehend it.
