Is'nt this the way we are? I think verse 12 says it all for us here. Some say I follow.........KJV , NIV ,NSV etc: Others say I follow Catholic, Mormon, Baptist etc........ Does this not sound like what These verses tell us NOT to do. I just wonder why it is that we have to pick things apart so much, or overthink things to the point where there is a bit of distortion. I am not trying to be rude, I am just wondering if this kind of thing is what these verses are talking about, and how we can allow so much to interfere with our family as the
body of Christ. Oh, I know that most of the basics are the same, but Other things that arent so important to SALVATION are picked apart like buzzards feeding on a carcas. I am not saying that some is not important, because it all is for teaching and giving us perfect examples of the workings of our God and our Lord Jesus.
Believe me I am not putting any one down, I am just asking a simple question that applies to scripture.

In the Love of Christ I pray for Blessings for all.

For the most part the various versions of the Bible are ok with me.........and I don't condemn anyone who likes one that I don't necessarily like/use........FYI, I use the King James Bible, yet my dear 91 year old Saint of a Mother uses the NIV........go figure.

That being said, there ARE some books out there called Bibles that are anything but the Word of God............so we do have to exercise some judgment in my opinion.

I have a ESV study bible, and last night I took the time to really look through it, it does have some stuff in the back that seemed helpful to me...such as descriptions of some certain religions...gave info that I did not know. Now I do not agree with the beliefs of these religions...but I do not have to agree or follow them.....it is not my place or my want to judge them. Some may say that me using a ESV or NIV is wrong, they are certainly entitled to their opinions...just as I have a right to choose what version and beliefs I have.

On the most part concerning bible translations, it seems that its the King James only crowd who have that mentality (possibly a few others). I use the ESV myself (the study bible is excellent just for the sheer volume of notes). I also use the NIV etc.

Our faith is not determined by our allegiance to a bible translation, nor is it built upon a denomination. I am a Baptist but I also know I have many brothers and sisters in differing denominations.. Lutherans, Presbyterians, etc. Most of these denominations agree on the what the essentials are for salvation.. I would lie to say that Mormons are not denomination of Christianity, their may use the name but they are not Christian. Neither are Jehovahs witness', Roman Catholic see. etc.

However, there is a huge difference between basing your salvation on your denominational stance and basing what you believe to be scriptural based on your denominational stance. This I believe is where people misunderstand the difference.

Your salvation is not based on a bible translation, nor is it based on a denomination, However, you will get the truth that saves from both of these.

There is a whole host of issues inbetween this..like heretical denominations etc.
