In yet my 10th or so atempt to take about that one topic, here's what I'm saying. If the claims of evolutionists are true, then the first living cell, which reproduced purely asexually, would have to evolve and become an organism that reproducing purely sexually. So where's the scientific evidence that demonstrates that this transition is possible?
Where is the scientific evidence that proves mankind can reach the stars? Where is the evidence that demonstrates this is possible? Where is the evidence that demonstrates we can cure the common cold, all cancers, and so on.

This question you ask is an important one. How did sexual organisms evolve from a-sexual ones? Currently our level of knowledge is not great enough to answer the question. It’s that simple. Just because we don’t know something now, or can’t do something, doesn’t mean those things are impossible to know or do. I think, Megaman, you should agree with me on this point. Then why do you think the answer to this question of yours must be answered this day or else evolution is disproved? I’ll answer for you: you want evolution disproved and so you are willing to ignore the obvious fact that not knowing something is not proof that it can’t happen, or didn’t happen.

What you are presenting is the God of the Gaps Argument: if we don’t understand how something happened then God must be the Cause. It’s a bad argument.

If you believe the bible then you can't believe in evolution. We see all animal were made in genesis.

There doesn't have to be a reason or a purpose for something coming into being. It could be the side effect of something else.

Very basic example would be a puddle. No one creates one, it just naturally happens as a result of other circumstances

I see no reason life couldn't just be the side effect of some other event.

It's a bleak outlook I know, and I'm not saying its true. Both sides are searching for answers, and there may be no great cause, purpose or reason.

I wonder if this is posted in the right category? Perhaps "Miscellaneous" would be better?

Agreed.

I don't see it as bleak at all, though I think I can understand why many Christians see it this way.

do you exclude entirely the possibility of a Creator God?

The complexity of human life, down to the single cell, all points to an intelligent designer. All the things that must happen and come together at the same time (including all the machinery, motors, set of instructions DNA, decoders, transportation systems in a cell and along with the perfect environment which also as complex and fine tuned), and also in sequential order makes it virtually impossible for life to exist. All these things had to have come together at the same time, or you got nothing.

You want to disprove God so much that you want to ignore the evidence science is now producing due to our age of scientific enlightenment, why? Because I guess you don't want to acknowledge a supernatural being or essence outside or greater than man (yourself). You don't want a Boss telling you what you can and can't do, or shouldn't do.

It takes greater faith to believe all this (the world/universe/life) came from nothing (eternal nothing/dirt/Primordial soup). So either God was always here, or your "whatever you think" was always here, for nothing can come from nothing and nothing can never cause anything!

If you follow the evidence where it leads, it leads to a creator! period.

[SUP]20 [/SUP]For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

I do agree with all of this so far.

I never said it had to be answered this day or else evolution was disproven. What I will say is that if you can't or don't have an answer, then I have a completely valid reason to not believe evolution as of this day. Would you be willing to agree with that?

Good thing that's not what I presented at all, considering I never mentioned anything about God when I was questioning evolution.

However, evolution has its own "God of the gaps" arguement, only the evolutionists like to replace "God" with "millions of years." But that's a discussion for another topic.

Cycel is actually not out to try and disprove God's existence to us Chrisitians. This is simply a discussion me and him were having in another topic and it was getting lost in the business of that topic, so he decided to start a new one here. Cycel has no intentions of getting us to deny our faith.

Btw Cycel, speaking about other discussions, did you ever post your testimony somewhere? I'm still interested in that (more interested than I am in this discussion).

I agree. DNA is a real stumbling block for those who want to believe in speciation.

For myself, yes, but that's a different story with no connection to evolution.

Francis Collins may well be the leading American geneticist. He identifies with evangelical Christianity, and in his book, The Language of God, talks about his faith and explains why genetics proves the case for evolution. Check it out of the library and then decide.

I'm sorry I feel bad that I haven't gotten around to it. I've described the experience a number of times, but only once to my own satisfaction. I saved a copy of it in my computer files, but do you think I can find it? I'll try and write a new one tomorrow and post it for you. I was up visiting my mother in the old age home she entered this past summer and only got back a few minutes ago. She basically kicked me out; told me she was bushed. I took the hint. :) Now I see that my buddy that I play WOW with is on-line and waiting for me, so I better not disappoint him. He wants to go dungeon raiding.

Will chat later.

Cycel :)

okay...i saw megaman's post that said this is a talk between the 2 of you:)
that's cool.

if you feel like it, maybe start a thread sometime on how you are able to exclude the possibility of a Creator.
it'll be fun.

sorry megaman. k.thx.

If your origins are meaningless, and your end is meaningless, at least have the guts to say your life is meaningless

no problem. I knew when he posted a topic on here others would respond, and I'm not discouraging such. Just clearing the air.

Many Christians are inconsistent with what they believe
Yeah, in The Creation Answer Book by Hank Hanegraaff, he has a really good way of explaining why theistic evolution is contradictory and detrimental to core Christian beliefs. Not sure where it was in that book though, I'd have to dig for it if anyone is interested.
