Inmany ways the heart determines our actions, not just our feelings, and it’scritical to engage the heart when dealing with God (e.g., Ps 101: 4; Isa 29:13; Matt 15: 8). On this matter, the great revivalist Jonathan Edwards said:

The Holy Scriptures everywhereplace religion very much in the affection; such as fear, hope, love, hatred, desire, joy, sorrow, gratitude, compassion and zeal...It is an evidence thattrue religion lies very much in the affections, that the Scriptures place thesin of the heart very much in hardness of heart...Now by hard heart is plainlymeant an unaffected heart, or a heart not easy to be moved with virtuousaffections...- Jonathan Edwards, On the Religious Affections, in The Words ofJonathan Edwards as quoted in ReJesus: A Wild Messiah for a Missional Church byAlan Hirsch and Michael Frost.

Withoutthe heart, we cannot comprehend God. Besides, none of the really great thingsin human life spring only from the intellect but rather from the heart, whichcan embrace what the mind cannot.

You hypocrites, well did Isiahprophesy of you, saying, This people draws near unto me with their mouth, andhonours me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. (Matthew 15:7-8)

I think it is true, to some degree. In the word it says, god will give a heart of flesh, to be sensitive to him. Usually without christ people are like hearts of stone, where the seed fell put didn't take any root to grow. The good soil of the heart it took root. A broken and contrite heart, and a merry heart, as a man thinketh in his heart so he is. but God could use any one he even used PHaroh with *a hard rebellious heart to set the hebrews free. Even when someone could be in right standings in them selves, all our rightousness is as a filthy rag, so prayer and renewal cleanses us if done on an daily basis.

Ok, AS LONG as we understand that "heart" is speaking of our eternal spirit......and not the physical muscle that pumps blood through our bodies..........just saying....... :)
