The world will tell you depression is a disease and diseases are almost impossible to treat.
The Lord will tell you that you don't have the joy of the Holy Spirit in you. This is depression. A chemical imbalance is treatable. Your are not your own, you are bought with a price. Your body is the temple of the HS. It is mans responsibility to keep his body healthy, this includes the physical and the emotional. When you keep your body healthy, you can acquire the joy of the Spirit by hearing the Word which produces faith.
Christians don't commit suicide, because Christians have faith.
People who commit suicide don't have faith.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Matt 21:15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were shouting in the temple, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they became indignant 16 and said to Him, "Do You hear what these children are saying?" And Jesus said to them, "Yes; have you never read, 'OUT OF THE MOUTH OF INFANTS AND NURSING BABIES YOU HAVE PREPARED PRAISE FOR YOURSELF'?"

The scriptures says that no murderer will enter the kingdom of God. That soul who committed suicide murdered himself. Whosoever he is would have died in his sins, because he did not confess and repent of his sin.I am judging the action not the person.

No sinner will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. It is a mystery to many, faith heals that.

Some folks, maybe all of them, who commit suicide have reached the end of a rope that only God knows how extensive it was. It is written God will in no wise turn away a broken heart. If a broken hearted person does commit suicide, and he or she has been otherwise clean, I do not think we or our loving Savior would turn them away. Jesus loves to show mercy.

"No sinner will enter the Kingdom of Heaven." Who in this world does not sin? Except for Jesus Christ I know of no one that doesn't sin. Jesus once told those who thought that they were sinless:

"So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." - John 8:7

Was God wrong when He told us:

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" - Romans 3:10

Who in this world is 'righteous' and without sin?

I thought we are all born with a built-in death warrant, which is our sin nature, because we have inherited this sin nature from Adam we are already born spiritually dead (separated from God) and die physically. 1 Cor. 15:22: “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.” Death came by Adam and the resurrection can only come to mankind by believing in Jesus Christ.

Perhaps I took what you posted, "No sinner will enter the Kingdom of Heaven." out of context. I hope so. As a sinner I do that on occasion.

Is a Christian who commits the sin of suicide less a Christian than we Christians that sin? As the Bible tells us in Romans 3:10 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one". Thankfully as Christians we are saved by grace. Who of us Christian sinners have more right to the grace of God than a Christian sinner that commits suicide? Every Christian is a sinner. ALL of us. As we read in the Bible: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39). We must remember the same God who saved us is the same God who will keep us. Once we are saved we are always saved. Our salvation is most definitely eternally secure! This applies as well to those Christians that have commited suicide.

The only unpardonable sin today is that of unbelief. There is no pardon for a person who dies in unbelief. Except those who have not reached the age of accountability or are mentaly ill. John 3:16 tells us, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” The only condition in which someone would have no forgiveness is if he/she is not among the “whoever” that believes in Him. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). To reject the only means of salvation is to condemn oneself to an eternity in hell because to reject the only pardon is, obviously, unpardonable.

Ask God to help you fight the urge to commit suicide.

Listen Fishbait, and you listen good, I am a sinner. Now you know the context I meant my post in...........I hope to meet you, either right here or come the Kingdom........God bless you....and I will listen, and listen good to you too........

I realise that this is a really sensitive subject and I apologise if anyone finds this topic hard. I'm asking this question as I see this question pop up a lot.

I feel that this one takes the application of some simple logic. In Ephesians 1:13-14 Paul wrote that at the moment we first heard the gospel and believed it the Holy Spirit was sealed within us as a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance. In 2 Cor. 1:21-22 he added to this saying that God Himself has accepted responsibility for us and put His mark of ownership on us. In Colossians 2:13-14 he said that the Lord forgave us all our sins at the cross. That means our salvation was guaranteed before we had a chance to do anything, good or bad, after becoming saved.

Since God knows the end from the beginning, He knew every sin we would ever commit. The moment we accepted the Gospel and became born again all of them were forgiven, even the sin of taking our own life if it comes to that.

Yet some people believe that they would go to hell. Some will argue, but how can you repent of suicide? It is too late after you died. But I believe that this betrays an idea that each time you sin you temporarily lose your salvation before you go back to God and ask for his forgiveness.

So what are your views?

God bless!

(
Also I'd like to point out that God would never want you to take your life as he values it more than anything in the world, so much that he gave his own son)
Suicide is murder therefore they will follow what the bible says about all the other people that have murdered. Do not worry there is not "hell" to go to as so many think there is BUT there is a lake of fire that will be used also for burning up the few who do not want to follow God.

Saving someone is not murder so do not worry about helping someone in say a house fire or car wreak...

Christians have a much better "chance" of not having problems then do the many that the Bible talks about so you can worry yourself into problems if not careful.

In context it means all sins are forgiven when asked with a faithFULL and contrite heart. You can't ask God to forgive you for what you are about to do which is sin, and then be forgiven, for repentance through faith is turning FROM sin. Plain and simple. Suicide is not turning, but looking straight at sin and committing it. LACK OF SAVING FAITH. Having none. Zilch.

This isn't true. No man can take a life, not even his own unless given him from above. Now ask yourself, will your death be more glorious because you didn't take your own life? Now if you died and they put your body side by side with one who commited suicide in front of a group of strangers and asks them how these bodies differ, I'm willing to bet "one commited suicide" won't be among them! I can't imagine what it would be like to take my own life. It would take not only a tremendous amount of pain, but strength as well. You will not attack a soldier who gives his life for his country. By definition is that not a type of suicide?

God has mercy on whom He has mercy.
Only a fool makes such judgements for God.

I knew a man who was a faithful deacon for many years. In his old age (97), he became ill, and fell into dementia.
One night, he woke up, and ended his life (in a rather grotesque way).

Will this man be held from the Kingdom because of an ailment of the flesh?

Is depression any different than the illness of dementia in the context of Judgement?
Let God decide. He alone knows the heart.

I also knew a boy who was mentally handicapped.
He would speak of very little except God.
He was a true inspiration to our congregation, and a joy to fellowship with.
10 years ago he fell down some stairs, and became paralyzed from the waist down,
and could no longer breath without a respirator.
Within a week, he secretly unplugged his respirator.

Depression is a struggle for the strong, and can be unbearable for the weak.
What was I to tell his parents?
That the faith that He had shown his whole life was wasted?
That the blessing that He was to our congregation was false?

Judge your own lives, and leave the judgement of the deceased to the Lord.
Assume the best, rather than bring despair to the grieving.
We rest in the HOPE of Christ. Give hope to the broken hearted.

about a year ago i had some pretty strong suicidal feelings. i was almost unable to move as a result of pain from metastasized prostate cancer. it was during that period that i saw some of the other elements in a suicidal decision. there must be a lot of anger. suicide will hurt a lot of people. if i had jumped from this 23rd story window (and as much as anything it was pain that stopped me) i would have hurt so many people. these range from the chinese family i live with, to the building workers who would have to mop up after me. i was not dealing with depression at the time (although i have had bouts with it since) so maybe i was a little better able to see what was happening than i would have been in the "darkness like unto death" of depression.

I have trully come to see, that when it comes to suicide, or many sins.
That we may judge the act as wrong, but the judgement of the person belongs to God.

My daughter is doing better now, but for most of her life she battled a severe depression that caused her to attempt suicide several times.
I lived a suicide watch for her for many years.
It was only when she reached age 18, that new medical tests made available, was she finally diagnosed and treated for the cause.
It was found out that her own hormones were toxic to her, and the root of her many medical sufferings.
Since she has been treated, it is like night and day, she is doing so much better, and her bouts with depression are now rare.
She will always have physical limitations because of her diagosis, but to see the differance since her treatment, has shown me that we cannot ever trully know what the person faces, only God does.

We can never aprove suicide and should always speak to the action as being wrong, but we also should never judge the indivigual, for such does belong to God.

God bless

Just a thought here, but didn't Paul say he "died daily?" Does anyone believe he lost his salvation daily? A Christian who commits a sin of "omission" (unintentional sin) certainly should realize their mistake/sin, and "man up" and say......"Sorry Father, didn't mean that.......please forgive me........" Our Father is faithful complete.........He will not forsake us.....

The only problem arises with those who because of some theological ideology do not believe they have to repent (man up), or some who simply believe what they do is just fine and not a sin..........and they don't repent and ask God to forgive their slip. And before someone jumps in...........NO this is not crucifying Christ again and again........His precious blood IS ALREADY applied to the heart of the saved............I just can't imagine a Christian killing themselves.........it may well happen, I don't know, I just can't understand it............If their depression is so bad that they have lost all touch with the will to live, wouldn't this also mean they have probably lost all touch with Christ?

I would never pass judgment on someone like this.............so I have no answer of "yes" or "no."

I have seen this topic discussed on any number of Sites, and have yet to see an answer provided that seemed worthy of adopting........God bless........and if you know someone like this..........pray, PRAY, AND GO TO THEM AND PRAY WITH/OVER THEM.........help them.
I at age 18 committed, tried to commit suicide, And after taking all those pills to die, was in dire straights, thoughts of all that had happened controled me at that time, depression set in so badly as I took each pill to die, I asked God to save me, I called no one, told no one and amazingly I woke up the next day around 3:00 PM sicker than a dog. I was not sure if God would have take me home safe with God, but had, had toooooooo much, depression oerwhelmed me at that time my life.
So I say to any and all comtemplating suicide, Talk let it out God does understand our personal stiuation(s)
And God is Faithful, we are not
S0 anyone thining ono do suicide, make sure first you are well with you and your maker. An if you do live, pray you are nota vegetable after words. Also please make it not messy for anyone to clean up. Thnk not of just self, beor completing this action

It is my great joy to inform this forum that I do not condemn anyone who commits suicide, for even murder is forgiveable. I know of people who have committed suicide, and I also know their hearts were absolutely broken. These people, whom I love dearly, were kind folks, and I believe, if anything, they were murdered by their surroundings, and by the actions of others. I cannot know this, but I do know I am free of judging others to condemnation.

Anyone here who condmens suicides in their hearts had better reconsider lest this "solution" seem the only way for them one day, and they will have condmened themselves. I am not prepared to do this. Please do not teach as though you know the judgment of God for these people. It is judging to damnation, and no one in or out of this forum has been handed over his crown and judgment yet.
Someoe give this Brother reputation won't let me for now, so the Love of God protruded right through you Brother
