I have been thinking a lot lately about how Christians can ban together to make a difference in the world. The problem is how can we ban together when we "fight" against each other. What I mean by saying that is a fight of words. We are critical of each other and spend time even discussing who is truly Christian or not. In the dictionary, Christian is defined as: a person who has received Christian baptism or is a believer in Jesus Christ and his teachings. That probably includes all of us on this site. We all strive to follow Christ and live at least the 10 commandments. So how can we work together to combat the true evils in this world? Such things as: abortion, pornography, adultery, sexual sins, crime, and well...the list is endless. Any ideas?

Have you got street pastors in america? We have them in the UK.

Basically these volunteer christians from all denominations join together walking the streets on friday and saturday nights helping stop fights, picking up glass and helping vulnerable people into taxis.

Although they have different viewpoints on how Jesus died, how to pray to Jesus, what denomination is right etc they have one thing in common, and that's the love for Christ. Through that love, they put their differences to one side and work together as a team. Anyone can join and i'm thinking of joining. It's amazing the development and I honestly think it's God inspired because the days are running short.

There is hope *canchristiansgetalong* there is hope :)

What a beautiful thought and something I believe we should always keep praying for. I have wondered the same thing as you. Prayer should never have been taken out of the schools and in a way I feel Christians are to blame. If we believe in a cause for Christ, I believe God will honor our unity and prayers if we come together strong to combat the evils you spoke of...but the Bible also lets us know that there will be a falling away and others about man just turning cold and even those who were once Christians: II Thes 2//Matt 24:2//Luke 12:53//II Tim 3:1-7//II Pet 3:3-4...and I believe we are facing some of that now. There has been talk on and off for some time about taking In God We Trust off of the dollar bill. Are we as Christians going to allow that to happen, or will we come collectively in every city,, every state... and insist against it however we can peaceably? Prophecy is going to be fulfilled, I just have to make sure it's not fulfilled in me and continue to pray for this world and our churches and encourage other Christians to do the same.

MY THOUGHTS ONLY! (and I know I'm painting a target on my back, but so be it.....)

Step 1: The Church MUST return to God!

Step 2: DO AWAY WITH DENOMINATIONS!

Step 3: Burn all the writings of man on Theological Ideology, and Stand Firm In the Word of God!

Step 4: Dial 911, and hope no one is seriously injured as we attempt to implement Steps 1 thru 3.

The second coming of Jesus Christ?

Thanks everyone, those were good thoughts. I think we should be praying for the second coming. Jesus will help us fight evil personally.

This is a really good thought and I also like that you said to not let it happen to us personally. Stand firm together in righteousness: one christian at a time. Starting with ourselves.

Wow even Paul had to deal with this issue in his day! 1 Corinthians 1[SUP]1"2 [/SUP]Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” [SUP]13 [/SUP]Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?" and again in chapter 3
"1.And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. [SUP]2 [/SUP]I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; [SUP]3 [/SUP]for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? [SUP]4 [/SUP]For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?[h=3]Watering, Working, Warning[/h][SUP]5 [/SUP]Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each one? [SUP]6 [/SUP]I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. [SUP]7 [/SUP]So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor....[SUP]21 [/SUP]Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours: [SUP]22 [/SUP]whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come—all are yours. [SUP]23 [/SUP]And you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s." Shall we forget the debate on Gentiles being accepted in the church in Acts or Paul's call against "the butcher's of the Flesh" in Galatians. The truth is since our faith is based on our faith in Christ as a creed not on a set of works. Therefore, the things we believe become more important than the thing we do. A person may live a very humble and virtuous life, but if he has the wrong doctrine he is a heretic condemned to hell. All the controversies over the right doctrine of the definition of Christ, the right ideas about salvation, or the continuation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is enough to make ones head spin. We have fought wars against our brothers over the right doctrines of salvation "The Thirty Years War." The truth is it should not be only about what we believe but also how we live. In James it says faith without works is dead. Let us always seek to living letters to be read by all men. Or we can be Rivers of living water instead of bitter dead sea full of backbiting and poisonous rancor.

I'm afraid we can't even all agree that those things are wrong.
Yes, as well some think the Ten Commandments are to be neglected as if void within Loving the Lord as well, part of another problem.

God doesn't oppose Himself, and His Word is true accordingly. People just keep adding to, and subtracting from the truth. The fighting and arguing comes from making up our own rules, claiming grace, faith and forgiveness arbitrarily. Then we demand to defend those beliefs. I have surmised that those that say they are saved, really aren't if they can read the scriptures and argue against it like the person that endorses it was the one that wrote it.

We have theories about the scriptures and the Bible isn't theory. Without using all scripture, we neglect comparing references to prove the truth, and then we are susceptible to error. We should study to reveal to ourselves what is the truth in relation to the complete Bible and not just bits and pieces of it to satisfy ourselves. I can't stand for a belief that I can't prove with all scripture. Granted there is a lot of the Bible that I can't understand, but I suppose that is something that God uses to keep me praying, and something that keeps me from getting the big head.

John 5:37-39 (KJV)
[SUP]37 [/SUP]And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
[SUP]38 [/SUP]And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
[SUP]39 [/SUP]Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
[SUP]15 [/SUP]Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

"Rightly dividing" doesn't mean to tear it apart according to what we want to see, it means to put it together in the principles that we should see.

there are street pastors in my area also. I live near a collage town and the street ministers yell at the kids and tell them how evil they are and they are all going to hell for getting drunk and fornicating . while this is true, it is not the best way to reach people. the post above is a much better way to introduce people to Christ who may not know him. keep In mind, sometimes people don't know him.

Our love for God must shine through us first and foremost,
otherwise one is back to serving man as well as ourselves.
