What does this mean to you?

The inhabitants of the Villages had ceased.
Indeed, they had ceased in Israel,
Until I Deborah arose.
Until I arose as the Mother in Israel.
They had chosen new gods;
But then War began breaking out in the Gates:
And was Shield or Spear seen among the Forty Thousand in Israel?
Thus my Heart is toward the Princes of Israel,
Who offered themselves willingly among the people.
May all of you beatify IHVH.
Speak forth, you who ride the White Foal,
You who sit in the Judgement
And you who walk upon the Road.
Far from the noise Archers
In the the Oasis of Water,
There shall they rehearse the Just Acts of IHVH,
These are the Just Acts toward the inhabitants of His Villages in Israel:
Then shall the People of IHVH march down to the Gates.
Now awake, awake, O Deborah!
Awake, awake, and utter your Song!
Rise again, O Barak, and lead your Captivity captive,
O you, the son of Abinoam! -- Judges 5:7-12

It means that God used a woman to perform His promise because no man would step up. He still does that today.

It that what it means? Or does it mean that a man would not step up without a woman of Israel?

It means what I said, He had nothing to chose and by they a woman was the first person to preach the Gospel and her name was Mary. If a man want do it He will use a woman and if a woman want do it He will use a donkey and if a donkey want do it , He will use rocks.

What about the Song of Deborah and Barak? What had happened to Israel during this time? Why did Barak absolutely insist that she go with him? What is going on here? This isn't a statement of modern women's rights, this is a statement of the power of a woman of Israel for all time, in all places.

What happened here? What is all this talk of an Oasis, and standing up as the Mother in Israel, and awaking Deborah and Barak?

Your looking for something thats not there. The song is about Christ and nothing else. Christ is the savoir and the judge ande is the mother of Israel. He chose it and made it. Its all about Christ as is all of the OT. It's the cross and nothing else.

That's great.

My question is when is an actual female mother in Israel going to step up as a mother in Israel like Deborah stepped up as a mother in Israel?

Christ as a mother in Israel is good. However, I highly suspect that Christ would much rather see a woman step up as a mother in Israel so he can go ahead and be the King of Ages.

Furthermore, we know that Christ is the King of Kings. However, the same principles of the old testament are still the same principles of this current aeon.

My question is, Am I ever going to have the chance to see even one time in my short time on earth an example of a lady of Israel like Deborah in the church? Because, I can tell you in truth, I have never seen the like. In all my 37 years on this strange planet in the middle of kind of sort of space/time local in the will of God, I have never seen the like. It would be nice to see even one Deborah in my earthly life before I am reduced to a small pile of dust.

I have never met one. And I don't think I ever will in this world.

I give you my honest testimony of now over 20 years of Christianity. I have never met a Christian female in the church or out of it who understand even some of the simplest things of the Bible. I have met thousand upon thousands of women who claim to believe in Christ, but I have never met a woman who actually has that special gift called a 'backbone'. I've many who would claim such, but the reality? I've simply never witnessed it. It may exist. I have searched earnestly for it. But I have never seen it. And I can at this very hour, in all honesty of my sould, claim with Solomon the King:

Though I have searched repeatedly, I still haven't found what I'm looking for. One in a thousand men have I found, who adding one thing to another can find out the reason of a matter, but not one woman have I found among them all. -- Ecclesiastes 7:28

This is a true statement from my life experience. It is not sexist. It is sadly my very life experience.

I could almost wonder if the narratives of Deborah and other such women were not fantasms of the wish fulfillments of men in Judea.

In all my time in university, in life in general, in the churches, I have never seen a woman like Deborah, Ruth or Esther. Not one. Not in 37 YEARS! NOT ONE! And I've been looking! Not judgemental. Not overly costic towards people, but honest to goodness just trying to find one among my generation who actually understands--ANYTHING!

And alas, not even one have I ever even seen. And this is my honest testimony. Nor at this time do I ever expect to witness such. They simply do not exist anymore. My joy in life is to understand that once, long ago, there were a few women like Deborah. And that at least gives me some comfort in knowing that God did not make them utterly degenerate, illogical, ortish flakes of humanity. Is there even one female example who has ever lived that has had any glimmer of Truth within her? The answer, thankfully, is yes. And so I can die in peace knowing that not all human females were utterly, totally void of reason or truth within them.

The problem with geographic locale is that it limits one to a certain subset of people. The beauty of the internet is that it removes that limitation and can make a distillate of the population accessible. Also, it allows people to share their very personal knowledge without the hindrances of interpersonal relationships. I think that there are several women on this board who are very bright, even outshining many male dullards.

Oh, this is good news. I can't wait. An actual living female like Deborah?

Are you suggesting that she might have even risen above the worldview of the world and is in a state of Understanding?

I don't really understand what you are saying? Are you saying you want to meet a lady who is a prophetess, as Deborah was? Surely that would be the same as looking for a man like Samuel was? I doubt we will see the likes of such people again in this age - they were a rarity in their own Old Testament age.

If you are saying there are no Godly women in this time, I would say you are wrong. They tend to be married, or older, but they certainly do exist.

Feel free to correct me if I've misunderstood your meaning.

It is a sad state of affairs but you are largely correct. I am often embarrassed at being a woman when I see what they do, and I don't mean out there in the world - I mean in the realm of Christianity and yes, in cc. When I see how women usurp authority, get a big head, and think they are great servants of Almighty God and try to teach other women the distorted view of a woman's place, it makes me a little sick inside. And they go on to act like they must teach because men won't, which has a certain amount of truth to it, but not as much as women like to adamantly scream it from every possible venue. Women have a place and because they jump out of that God-ordained place, we have a mess in the Christian community today. I have had fierce encounters with other women, one in the women's forum of cc, which only women can get to, and it was awful. They tend to get arrogant and brag about their knowledge, position, accomplishments, etc.- not that men don't - they do too, but it seems like women are fighting either an imaginary battle to be "equal" (they really mean "superior" but equal sounds better) with men, or blatantly trying to prove they are more Godly.

So, my honest opinion is that you have a point but I do think you are being a little too hard on women in that there are many who are sincere and strive to keep the place God gave us, and who do have understanding of much in the Word - some not so simple. Granted, I haven't seen a Deborah, but we do live in a different time and culture here in 21st century America.

I am 62 years old, been around the block a time or two, and saw the growth of the "feminist" movement in America, and I can tell you it has contributed greatly to the downhill slide of our country.

And finally, if you really believe what you are saying, pray and ask God for a woman to fit in the slot you have in your mind. If you are pure of heart and in His will, He will do it. You might want to carefully read the thread about Unanswered Prayer. Furthermore, there is NOTHING in the Bible that falls into the category of "fantasms."

What does this mean to you?
It describes the tremendous victory Deborah and Barak experienced over the enemies over the enemy and shows me how profoundly God uses those who are not too arrogant to cooperate with each other, regardless of gender. God can and will use all of us who are pure of heart and willing to stick our neck out for Him.

Yes, God will use a woman if it is necessary, but the story of Deborah and Barak has much more insight to offer a serious searcher than a feminist twist to a historical event.
