This is fairly easy. In a picture, your conscience is on the roof where all can see when it is facing them, while the subconscience is in the basement and cannot face anyone.

Are you sure you don't mean your 'conscious' and 'sub-conscious'?

If so, your conscious is the part of your mind that is awake and actively thinking. It's the only part of the brain that most people use during waking hours. It's the part that helps you speak, hear, see, taste, touch, smell, process information, write, move, walk, do math, hold hands, kiss etc etc.

The sub-conscious is the dormant, and much more powerful and potent part of the mind. To do with old memories, fears, animal traits, instinct, bodily functions (mostly chemical regulations). It's also the part of the brain responsible for your dreams. The sub-conscious brain is very poorly understood, but it is believed to house enormous power. A lot of scientific experiments have been done on the sub-conscious. To do with hypnosis and mind-over-matter, amongst other things.

One study that wasdone found that the subconscious actually has the power to cause physical changes in the body. For instance, a person having a delusion might be convinced that they are being stung by nettles, and the mind actually will actually cause the skin to break out in little lumps.

Very interesting stuff.

So far no Scripture. Hoping for some...perhaps the sub conscious is the first affected in the new birth?
i.e. the wind blows where it will etc.

I looked I up, actually I did mean conscience:)

Conscience
Motivation deriving logically from ethical or moral principles that govern a person's thoughts and actions
Conscious
Intentionally conceived or aware of one's surroundings

I will be honest with you sister Miss,

I think you mean sub-conscious, the conscience like you said is for morality inspiration that governs a person's heart and or intentions. I think a brother above got the understanding of it.

1 Peter 1:13
Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5:6
So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.

Romans 13:11
And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.

Titus 1:15
To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure, but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

If that's what you meant, then there is no subconscience... only a subconscious mind.

The bible doesn't have anything to say about it, because the bible writers didn't know neuroscience.

We now know that the "subconscious" mind is not a single entity but several brain functions including reflexes (nerve signals sent back from the spine, never making it to the brain), involuntary systems (the parts of brain involved in keeping your heart pumping, lungs breathing, eyes blinking, etc.), and even many of the things that you believe you do consciously (walk, laugh at a joke, make easy decisions. etc.). The conscious mind only gets involved when there's a problem... it's like a CEO that leaves all the functions to the inferiors, but is notified when things contradict expectations.

Beyond the lack of scientific understanding, the bible also probably doesn't have much to say about consciousness because it contradicts the idea of a central "you" that is in control of everything you do. While it may feel like there's only one person running the show in your mind, it's clear from brain dysfunctions -- such as alien hand syndrome, tourette's, and brain tumors that cause personality changes -- that your conscious mind has limited control and that you aren't entirely responsible for all of your actions.

So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me...

The Conflict of Two Natures

[SUP]14 [/SUP]For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am of flesh, sold [SUP][m][/SUP]into bondage to sin. [SUP]15 [/SUP]For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate. [SUP]16 [/SUP]But if I do the very thing I do not want to do, I agree with the Law, confessing that the Law is good. [SUP]17 [/SUP]So now, no longer am I the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me. [SUP]18 [/SUP]For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not. [SUP]19 [/SUP]For the good that I want, I do not do, but I practice the very evil that I do not want. [SUP]20 [/SUP]But if I am doing the very thing I do not want, I am no longer the one doing it, but sin which dwells in me.

[SUP]21 [/SUP]I find then the [SUP][n][/SUP]principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. [SUP]22 [/SUP]For I joyfully concur with the law of God [SUP][o][/SUP]in the inner man, [SUP]23 [/SUP]but I see a different law in [SUP][p][/SUP]the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner [SUP][q][/SUP]of the law of sin which is in my members. [SUP]24 [/SUP]Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from [SUP][r][/SUP]the body of this death? [SUP]25 [/SUP]Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.

The One who inspired the writers is the Designer and Creator of the mind. There is nothing about neuroscience He does not know.

Interesting subject and confusing.
[h=3]"What is the conscious mind?[/h]The conscious mind is the part of your mind that is responsible for logic and reasoning. If i asked you about the sum of one plus one it's your conscious mind that is going to be used to make that addition.
The conscious mind also controls all the actions that you do on intention while being conscious. For example, When you decide to make any voluntary action like moving your hand or leg it is done by the conscious mind.
So whenever you are aware of the thing you're doing you can be confident that you are doing it by your conscious mind. If currently there is a cup of coffee beside you and you decided to take a sip then all of this process will be done by your conscious mind because you were 100% conscious while doing it.
The conscious mind is also known to be the gate keeper for the mind. If someone tried to present you with a belief that doesn't match your belief system then your conscious mind will filter that belief. The same will happen when someone criticizes you or call you names.
If for example, someone told you that you are "dumb" your conscious mind will filter this statement and let you realize that you are not really dumb.
[h=3]What is the subconscious mind?[/h]The subconscious mind is the part of your mind responsible for all of your involuntary actions. Your breathing rate and heart beats are controlled by your subconscious mind.
If you started to control your breath on intention then know that your conscious mind took charge while if you were breathing without being conscious of the breathing process then know that your subconscious mind is in charge.
Your emotions are also controlled by your subconscious mind. That's why you sometimes might feel afraid, anxious or down without wanting to experience such a feeling.
Your subconscious mind is also the place where your beliefs and memories are stored. That's why affirmations make no sense and can never improve your beliefs. Affirmations are done on a conscious level and are always filtered by the subconscious mind because they usually don't match your belief system.
The right way to change a limiting belief is to convince the conscious mind logically to accept it so that it can pass to the subconscious mind and reside there."

"Conscience is an aptitude, faculty, intuition or judgment that assists in distinguishing right from wrong. Moral judgment may derive from values or norms (principles and rules). In psychological terms conscience is often described as leading to feelings of remorse when a human commits actions that go against his/her moral values and to feelings of rectitude or integrity when actions conform to suchnorms. The extent to which conscience informs moral judgment before an action and whether such moral judgments are or should be based in reason has occasioned debate through much of the history of Western philosophy.''

So much for the cut and paste but after trying to wade through the confusion of my undersdtanding of the question I though Proverbs 4 might fit in some manner.

You have done so well. Now, tell us of the 'unconscious' part of the mind that we have and it's function.

A note on the 'conscience', which is different then the three levels of 'consciousness'. The 'conscience' is mentioned in the scripture and it has to do with our identity as a moral and spiritual agent. It is where we store all the norms and standards of living that we receive through instructions and a wide variety of knowledge and information we receive and subject ourselves to. The conscience is an indicator when we are about to make important decisions. It is like a street light with red, yellow and green lights. When you are about to do something a red light could come on to tell you not to proceed or go any further (STOP). Or a yellow light flashes warning you to (PROCEED WITH CAUTION). Or a green light comes on to let you know that you are safe to (GO FORWARD) with your decision without alarm. A good conscience is one that is filled with good and sound doctrine that God uses to direct our steps through the Holy Spirit.
