There is a question that has been on my mind a lot as of late. I have had this question going threough my mind for yeas, but more so now then ever. If the Bible is enough (as many say) to get us through this life saved. Why are people searching for other forms of old writings to live by? Like the lost scroll as other such writings. The reason I decided to post this is we as a people have not mastered the one book given to us yet, but we look for other writings to include. I understand the knowledge thing we want. Its just a question.
Please keep your replies short enough for everyone to read.

People are often fascinated with the new or the next best thing. People seem to forget that to be a disciple of Jesus means that we abide in His Word.

If someone is talking about a book that isn't in the Bible that sounds interesting to me, I get a desire to read it. I don't think those books are necessary to my salvation, but they would be nice to read.

I read the other books say the deuter, deutero? canon, because they can add another level of depth and understanding to your walk with God. I see no problem with that. I don't touch the gnostic ones because they're too far gone to enjoy.

Just one of the many reasons I see is people want to controll what they believe and how . Instead of trusting all and giving all to Jesus Our Lord.
God bless, pickles

Please give some examples of the writings to which you're referring.

what we are looking for? satan has deceived many, and he has convinced many that we have to do something for our salvation, in order for us to be able to be saved we have to know what that one thing is, so we search forthe answer. But just as one has said already we turn to man, a higher spiritual person to show us that answer. surely someone has done the paper work the in depth study and someone else has to have already discovered the one thing that we need for our salvation. Satan has convinced many that it just can't be a gift from God. it just can't be that easy. it is such a great thing, salvation, that it must come with a great sacrifice, a great price to be paid. and we look for the price. but just as in the real world if we have to know the price of something, before we buy it, chances are we can't afford it, in the first place, so we then look for the way to earn it. while the whole time the answer is right in front of our noses. God has already paid the price, Jesus has done the work, and the Holy Spirit has showed us the way through The Word, so in one package God gave the world it's gift. and man says that no one could love that much, to give such a great gift, so we keep searching for that one thing that we can do, that we too might obtain the right to say we have pleased our God, and therefore He rewards us with everlasting Life.

Ac 4:19But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

We have the Word of God in the Holy Scriptures, but we turn to the wisdom of man over that inspired Word of God for the answers, Hearken to God, for he hath said

Joh 14:6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
