I know getting togather with other believers at church is important, but can you REALLY be a Christian if you don't attend church?....If you do everythinglse right, repent and are baptised follow Jesus and love him with all your heart, soul, and mind, when the day of judgement comes will Jesus really turn me away because i did not attend church? I ask because im really worried about it. I have'nt been to church since I was like around 18 years old, buti have been baptised and I have repented, i did fall away but i repented again in college. i study my bible and I pray dailey and it FEELS like i can feel God's presence in my life now more than ever. But does that mean im saved? I think im on the right track but then after talking with my dad, who knows alot more about the bible than me, im just not so sure. I thought we just needed to believe and obey? :(

The answer is a yes you can be a Christian, but it is not as simple as a yes...

Let me put it this way, Jesus did not give us busy work, everything He said was for a purpose...

I think you should do a study on what Church is, the word church is used about 120 times and around 90 of those times it is talking about a local body of believers...

The church has so much to offer, it is like a family. You guys make sure you are okay, you love each other, and if anything goes wrong you are there for each other... One thing I love about church more then I love about my own family... Is my church is there for each other through Christ and because of Christ... Where as my family is only my family because we are blood related...

I think that if you do not attend a church you are going to stagnate in your faith and start to fall... Just like if you were to be stranded on a desert island for most of your years, you will loose your sociable skills fairly rapidly over a long enough period, no matter how hard you try to retain them...

Read the books Paul wrote, for he wrote many many letters to Church's and you can see what a church is about... Don't let this modern view of "But I get alone with God" determine how you view Church.... It is so much more then singing songs and listening to some guy on Sundays...

I feel like I should add you should not church shop or church hop....

Find one that is close to you that has sound doctrine (note no church will be 100% correct, one church won't have the best music, another won't have the best looking people, another will have people who can not afford to shower) That is why you must find one with sound doctrine and not what pleases your worldliness...

Church hopping is just as bad as not going to church and maybe even worse in a certain light... For when you church hop you get a false sense of security about your 'spiritualism'... The whole point of a church is to be like a family, and to grow off of each other through your short comings and your blessings... Kinda like a marriage, the whole goal is to lift each other up through Christ and to show Christ to those who do not know Him.... Not to just bring a person on a Sunday and have him listen to a good speaker, But by going out of your way to help fellow believers...

What if they chase you away because you read from the Bible what they do not want to hear... That happened with me a few times... What if the TRUTH of the WORD just falls to hard on their ears... GOd said that tehy will appoint for them false teachers that are SOFT ontheir ears... Yet the Spirit reproof them of sin... but I guess the False teaching will not adress that issue too much...

Things like ... WE ARE ALL SINNERS, and WILL ALWAYS BE... Oh that is so comforting for a sinner to hear... But... what Does the Bible say about that... The Bible says those that sin is of SATAN for he sinneth from the beginning... Now read that to them and see what happens... They want to smack you with a fist in the mouth... One man said to me, he would smack me right in the mouth... And all I did was read the Word of God to them...

When I read 1 Cor 14 I was chased out... When I read 1 John 3 I was offered about 14 meetings to HELP ME RIGHT... And All I did was read the Word of GOD... WOW! Did God not say they will CHASE you from their meetings/churches/sunagogues.???

Yes he did... the churches of the WORLD hates the truth... they are run bu sinning Pastors and full of sinners, NOT SAINTS...

There is only ONE CHURCH and this Church is PERFECT... ONLY God's Word is taught there... And that Church will be IN YOU when God puts HIS SPIRIT IN YOU... God will cleanse you 100%, then you are a SAINT... then God will PERFECT you through HIS APOSTLES, EVANGELISTS, PROPHETS, PASTORS AND TEACHERS,.... Eph 4:11 to 13.. THen he will FITLY add you to HIS CHURCH... what an AWESOME church that is...

Well one sign of a healthy church is that they will welcome you just as you are.

Good thoughts given for your consideration.......Will you go to hell because you did not attend a church? Not in my opinion. That being said however, it is very important for every Christian to fellowship with other believers, to be an ACTIVE part of THE CHURCH. God has a purpose for every one of His children, and He wants them to be about His work...........not afraid to "join in" on the fellowship with other believers, and not to be a "lukewarm" Christian. Remember what Jesus said about these........

There are other options available to you other than going to a church which is a set apart building for the express purpose of holding Church services. While I personally love my church, and the love and fellowship I share with the other members, I know that this kind of service is not suited for everyone. There are "home churches" you could look into. Small groups of believers who meet in someone's home to worship God.

Don't worry about being "accepted," as someone else said.........if they are a congregation of Christians, they will accept you and welcome you into their fellowship. I know my church would.

God bless..............

Matthew 13
24
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Hebrews 10
22
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

We do need to believe and obey. As well the Word tells us to fellowship with likeminded individuals (other believers) so that we can help each other in times of need and witness one to the other. Jesus also said where 2 or more gather in my name there I will be also.

that being said no i don't think attending church is a salvational issue however i do feel that attending church will greatly help anyone in their spiritual walk.
