"Yahshua":Does Jesus really care about the correct spelling of His real name?

Does Jesus really care about the correct spelling and correct pronunciation of His real name? Personally, I call Him by the name my bible uses- Jesus! I do hear God speak to me and not once has God ever informed my that "Jesus" is the wrong name and is insulting. Instead He has answered my prayers as I have used the name Jesus.

Many Messianic Jewish-Christians insist on calling Jesus by the name Yahshua, but was this name ever used of Christ? I heard two people once argue that the real correct name of Jesus is Yahoshua (Joshua).

Yahshua never appears in any ancient Hebrew texts. Wikipedia claims Yahshua is is an invented name from the 1950's and it was never used prior to this. This means the name Yahshua is of modern origin only. It is an invented and contrived name. So by calling Jesus Yashua you might as well be calling Him Bob, Dick or Harry as Yashua is just as fake except Yahshua was created in some dingy basement by some man.

I will never insult God by using it!

I have a hard time envisioning Jesus as a spelling nazi.

Honestly I think he wants us to use the name that has special meaning to us personally. I don't call him Yahshua I call him Jesus, but then name Jehovah has always spoken to me. I think people put to much thought on what to call him

Blain,

You do realize that the name Jehovah is also a derived name. It was derived by a monk who took the tertagramaton "YHWH" and inserted the vowels from Elohim and Adoni willie nillie and he simply invented Jehovah. The "J" was added for the "Y" as it was transliterated back into English. "Y" in German is similar to an English "J".

Either way I doubt God is concerned in the slightest on How we say His names.

I look at it this way. Does a father really care what his adoring children call him?

Jehovah-meaning God with us. for some reason speaks loudly to me, I haven't the slightest concern about it's origin's. All I know is that when that name is used in worship to God I feel my spirit inside me jump

I wonder why Jesus call God Father hmmm or why does the Lord prayer starts with Our father hmmm just a thought

John 17

17 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:

[SUP]2 [/SUP]As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

[SUP]3 [/SUP]And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

[SUP]4 [/SUP]I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

[SUP]5 [/SUP]And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.

He told Moses that He is the IAM. God is God and there is none other beside Him. His names are only necessary that we may comprehend a small part of Him. What name can adequately describe God? Or His Christ? Jesus does just fine for me. So named by the angel who declared His birth.

Exactly. Jesus has dozens of titles and names in scripture alone. Yet some people insist God is insulted by the name Jesus. I laugh at such logic.

English: Jesus
French: Jésus
German: Jesus
Swahilli: Jesus
Arabic: Isa
Greek: Ιησούς
Chinese (Simplified Han): 耶稣
Italian: Gesù
Japanese: イエス・キリスト
Korean: 예수
Russian: Иисус
Spanish: Jesús
Bulgarian: Исус
Czech: Ježíš
Dutch: Jezus
Estonian: Jeesus
Haitian Creole: Jezi
Hungarian: Jézus
Romanian: Isus
Thai: พระเยซู
Turkish: Isa

Whether you like it or not, the name Yahsua was invented (or more precisely: contrived)in 1950 by a man who was a Catholic. The name Yashua does not appear in any Hebrew manuscript. Referring to Jesus as Yahsua makes about as much sense as calling Him Alice Cooper or Mary Poppins.

Easy there, Daniella (;)). You actually have no idea what I believe on this particular topic. So, take it easy a little bit, eh?

The phrase "whether you like it or not" implies that these facts are independent of your own opinions. I can't recall how invested you are or are not in calling Jesus the modern name of Yashua but some are heavily invested in it.

Danica,

I understand. Something to consider for the future, though...When you specifically quote someone's post, and then say "whether you like it or not", it does come across as pretty focused towards that same person. Just something to consider.

Respectfully,

Methias
