I have heard people telling each other that they should be good people. Some even preach that all bad people will go to hell. Children of God, it is true that good people will go to heaven and that bad people will go to hell. Are there supporting scriptures?

We shouldn't treat God's grace lightly but people are only saved through Jesus Christ and his righteous sacrifice, not through their own good deeds. We are a people in need of a saviour and that Saviour is Jesus.

There is none good but God.
Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.

Who goes to Heaven and who doesn't is God's decision to make - and NOT ours.
Let God decide what is "good" and what is "bad".

This is not a qualitative question. Only those who are perfect enter into heaven. Any, even the smallest, blemish results in complete disqualification.

The atonement made by Christ is the only hope we have. It is the only thing that is wholly sufficient to satisfy God. John chapter 3:15-22

There is a spiritual dimension in our world, a power that God has that being good simply can not tap. When people understand this, when they can say that God created me and I can go to Christ if I sin. Something supernatural happens to them, a new understanding of the spiritual part of our life. People who have experienced that call it born again, for a new understanding of God comes with that.

It is true that if they are sinful people, God cannot be part of them. Liars, murderers, thieves simply can't have this as who they are and still have God as part of their being. At the same time, God looks first at their acceptance of God. If things of God aren't a part of our life on earth, then we can't live with Him in heaven. We can't achieve this through our being a good person, we can only achieve it through accepting all of God as a fact in our world.

People who live without God are simply missing what we are created for. They are not complete and will die.

I refer you to 2 Corinthians 5:22 for the answer.

Not all "Good" people will go to heaven. Remember the rich man who was good in all he did, but he couldn't give up all his wealth. He will not make it to heaven because he was not willing to completely obey God when it came to riches. We need to be willing to give up all we are, and all we have to follow God. :)

John, did you read all of the post? Go back and read it. Do you see it? Not only that, I would asked for a definition of perfect. The KJV use of the word is not the same as ours.

Don't get into a hissy. Reread the post.

Here are the words you missed. The are from notuptome.

THE ATONEMENT MADE BY CHRIST IS THE ONLY HOPE WE HAVE. IT IS THE ONLY THING THAT IS WHOLLY SUFFICIENT TO SATISFY GOD. (EMPHASIS MINE). John chapter 3:15-22

John, the post you respond to does not say that you cannot go to heaven if you've sinned. Doesn't say that. There is a space between the two statements on the post. I see that. That space creates a pause. The first statement, however, cannot be detached from the second statement. It is a qualifying statement. Read the post again, but read it with no pause or break between the two.

Well you can tell them first hand,

Define what a good person is.

then tell them have you ever done anything bad once in your life? Have you ever lied, stole, cheated, covet, take God's name in vain, get jealous, or angry for no right reason, prideful, curse, hated, had premarital sex, immortality, disrespected their parents or forget God in your heart and take for yourself idols of pleasure?

Then ask them to define what a good person is again.

All people are bad in the eyes of God. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that they are considered righteous in the eyes of God.
