this is absolutely true,eternal life is eternal, but does not prove eternal security, because we receive eternal life upon death, having endured until the end keeping the faith ,and God's word, overcoming this world, being faithful to Christ unto death. Not after saying some prayer or being baptized.

An early church writer addressed this same topic.

140-230 AD Tertullian "Some people act as though God were under an obligation to bestow even on the unworthy His intended gift. They turn His liberality into slavery.... For do not many afterwards fall out of grace? Is not this gift taken away from many?" (Tertullian On Repentance chap. 6.)

Tertullian teached a lot of strange doctrines.(I think his apologetic scriputre is interesting, though) "Early church writer" is no reference for the truth.

Then you'd have to explain how a christian can die on this earth if they have eternal life? The fact that the christian dies just like anyone else proves that on this earth they don't yet actually have eternal life, they only have it in the spiritual sense, they have the promise of it.
If we actually had it in this life our bodies would not be able to die the first death, and there would be no need for a resurrection. What is given in this life is the promise to eternal life. We will be resurrected or raised up to eternal life. Jesus made clear that eternal life is given in the "world to come". Eternal life has little concept or meaning for us on this earth until we are glorified.

Mar 10:30 but he shall receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands with persecutions, and in the world to come, eternal life.

The soul of man is eternal. And it says in ephesians that god sees us already in heaven. It is for us once and for all. Or how do you understand romans 5?

For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

The soul of man being eternal (although that is disputed by those who believe in "soul sleep") is not "eternal life". Two different things. If the souls of unbelievers also live on after death and also in hellfire for all eternity.. do they also have eternal life? Of course not.
