Letting children pass through the fire is fun too and He surely will protect them because He said through Isaiah: When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
So let them do whatever they wish.
2 Kings 2

[SUP] 23 [/SUP]And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.

[SUP]24 [/SUP]And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
[SUP]25 [/SUP]And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.

i am glad that as a Christian i have teh choice to choose what to celebrate and what i shouldnt .. yes some things out there we shouldn't celebrate.. but i know that it is up to the holy spirit to change me with my own foot work... i am thankful for others giving me "kind" opinions not forceful ones

i also choose not to celebrate Halloween but then again i am quite busy celebrating the life i got on the resurrection i just don't seem to have time to dress up and knock on doors looking for candy!!!.. How sweet the life i got from Jesus on that glorious day when you forgive d all my sins!!!

I don't celebrate Halloween, but I used to. I loved dressing up. :) God showed me that since I'm a photographer, I could, ultimately, dress up any time for photo shoots...so there you go. Since that was the only reason I 'celebrated' Halloween, I have no reason to anymore.

I also don't judge those that do celebrate. I just choose not to participate. My church is having a Trunk-or-Treat and Carnival tonight. I won't be there, but many others will. Does that make my church wrong? I don't think so. :) I like your view on this, jb800m. We do have the choice, in regards to Halloween, if we partake or not.

The holiday itself is of the devil, but that doesn't mean those that participate are demonic. I stated the reasons why I don't agree with Halloween above, but I thought, upon reading some responses, that I just wanted to make it clear that I don't look down on anyone that chooses to participate in trick-or-treating or carnivals and such. :)

Have a safe night!

Oh that's right He didn't promise the protection from bears.... :)

how about this? how about you concern yourself with greed, hardness of heart, lust, unforgiveness. these are the things that lead us away from Christ, not playing dress-up once a year.

It depend on whether the children celebrate it for religious belief, or for the candies. The Day of atonement is in October and on that day, the dead suppose to arise for Judgment. Maybe Halloween is like Christmas, that other tribes had created substitutes from other belief or religions. Jesus was born on the day of the of First fruit celebration and it is not in December.

I'm thankful that my wife and I have successfully brainwashed our children into hating halloween and wanting to have nothing to do with it. They joke that they should yell "Pagan!" whenever they see someone in a costume.

Mark 7
7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

It is up to you to instill values into your children and you, as parents, can decide if your children participate in the holiday or not, however, they shouldn't joke about calling anyone anything. How is that going to win people to Christ? And, allowing them to joke with it and excuse it is setting them up to become judgmental and harsh, especially if they do, in fact, yell names at people in any situation.

Amen.
---

People are always looking for reasons to persecute Christians. Why give them more?
Or rather, get persecuted for the right reasons, and not the wrong.
Jesus taught that the MERE lustful thought is equal to adultery.
If you think calling Halloween demonic is ridiculous, then...
You must think Jesus is ridiculous.
Or you need a real encounter with Jesus.

Try the book of Revelations.

Matthew 23:25“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.

Matthew 23:26
Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

Matthew 7:18
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.

Its says that God focus on the inside which is the soul, heart or mind of A person, which that tell a lot about a person. But how a person dresses doesn't says anything about that person. If a person get rid of all the evil desires in them like hatred, greed, and etc..., Then the body will become restored. The body is just the reflection of the soul, and so if the soul is ill, the body is ill, and which it needs healing. So if we admit (confess) to ourselves that we need a doctor, then the Doctor will come.
