What I mean is this, from what I gather you'd rather bash people over the head rather then show them the love of Christ.

everyone seems to want to be a pharisee. and think God blesses them because of it.

My thoughts exactly. Seems CC forum has become a place where people can brag on their righteousness, knowledge of and ability to quote scripture. Understand it however is a different matter.

is it wrong to stand against a pagan day originating in the worship of the dead?

Ephesians 5:11...

You're the one calling it a pagan day and worship. I don't pour your meaning into it, nor do give reverence to it.

No I think that when truth is brought out everyone tries to defend against it. Halloween is a pagan holiday. It was originally a day that the farmers celebrated their harvest after it was sold and had a pocket full of money. Then came the druids and their trick or treat. The would ask for the virgin daughter to be sacrificed and if the father would not give her to them then the trick came out and they would kill the whole family and bur the house down.

So trick or treat.

Regardless of the fact halloween is a pagan holiday, I think you all might be just a lil bit too old to still play pretend time dress up.

Alas though, it is September not October, perhaps we should talk about this one next month.

In fact, I think churches that use Halloween as an evangelizing opportunity whereby they create a re-enactment of Hell is not Biblical. For the Bible says to avoid having any appearance of evil.

Also, it is irrelevant if original origin of Halloween was good or not. It would still be bad because it is currently something that represents the image of that which is evil.

I enjoy sitting on my porch in the chill autumn air, handing out candy, and somehow remembering my childhood. To see the inflatable black cat in front of the Community Center in town, the Halloween Parade, the Mayor leading the parade. Halloween awakens my little village. Because its the one holiday every year, when we remember we are a community. Its more of a celebration of the town than anything else for me. Call me old fashioned, but I love Halloween because of the amazing memories of growing up in this town. Its also because I absolutely enjoy Autumn. It is my favorite time of year.

It's not of pagan origin.
Well October 31st is a Pagan holiday called, Samhain. Its the Celtic New Year, which is also when the Fae would rise from the ground to dance and ensnare men and women and children into coming with them back to the realm of the Tuatha.

Hallowe'en, or All Hallow's Eve is part of the liturgical calendar of Catholicism. It is the day when we (meaning Catholics) are supposed take stock of the glories of God and all those who passed in the last year and to pray for all the holy souls in purgatory (Not looking for an argument, telling you the origin). The next day is All Saints Day, a celebration of those who have entered into Heaven and all the holy angels in Heaven.

The modern traditions of Halloween actually come from three sources:
Pagan
Masks, Jack'o'Lanterns, going door to door.
Catholic
Celebration of those who have passed on, going to friends or relatives houses
Commercial
CANDY!!!! CANDY!!! CANDY!! CANDY!

By the way, by the time period that Samhain (pronounced Sow-win) was celebrated, the Druids of Ireland and Northern Scotland had fully rejected human sacrifice. No sacrifices were to be performed on Samhain. Instead, it was a time of family enjoying the first fruits of the harvest, and staying the hell inside because the Fairies would take them away if they noticed a human outside (hence the Masks part of tradition. If you had to go outside, you put on a mask that would obscure your face and cause the fairies to think you were one of them.)
