So many times, because men are the normal teachers, in most churches, they fail to incorporate the women of the Bible who were clearly "came along side" Jesus and ministered to Christ financial as well as physical needs. Women are placated by being reinforced for "doing things" and often discouraged when they want to "sit at Jesus feet" and learn. For example, look at Luke 8:1 ....men will tell you all about the disciples being with Christ, they stop at verse 1, but the little word AND in verse 2 tells us the women that also accompanied Christ through out Galilee, to the cross and beyond. How many men can relate to Mary as an unwed mother, in a Jewish culture, who had to come to Joseph, visibly pregnant and have him not believe her or can empathize with Mary when she was 9 months pregnant, yet traveled the 70 mile trek to Bethlehem to give birth to her first-born son in a manger? Who was with her, who attended her? Or what man can empathize with a lonely women at a well who had been married....how many times, 7.......and rejected 7 times, and yet relate when Christ told her...go and sin no more. Alot of times we hear, as women, that women are not to teach, but the Bible clearly gives the directives to elder women to teach younger women because, a man, no matter how much he wants to try, cannot teach a young women how to be a woman.

So if women are to teach (women) and they are to be a functional part of a church assembly, what role is that and what does it look like? And if it is not allowed, what do you do with the part of the church, women who are dysfunctional or "non-existent"......you have a partially functioning body? Epehsians tells us that the church consists of the effectual working of every part.

So what does that role look like and what are the boundaries?

Its interesting that you have brought this up. I have wondered alot about the role of women in God our fathers word. Ive come across some interesting verses. I will try to post them in the next few days. I would really like to better understand as to wether it was simply a matter of what was the norm in that time in history verses how much was what God asked of us.
God bless, pickles

Below is a link that discusses this in detail.
Once you read all the information, you find yourself right back where you started. But it is summed
up as either women are not to be preachers because they can not hold teaching authority over a man
as God's Word says which means you believe God's Word is actually God's Word.

If you over look God's Word and believe only the parts you want to believe are God's Word, then
women preaching is ok.

Many don't want to believe and follow God's Word because it violates their constitutional rights and
would remove them from the position they hold IF that position is equal to or higher than the position
of a man.

It boils down to if you belief God's Word is God's Word and should be followed without question or if
you prefer to hold life in America and Western beliefs above the commands of God.

Many will say that Paul's statements in the Bible are just his opinion. But I would point out that Paul
was taught by The Holy Spirit for 3 years what God wanted. No one else on earth - at that time or
at this time - can claim this or state his authority on it.
While it is true Jesus taught the 12 disciples, they for the most part did not understand what Jesus
taught till after His death. Paul was taught by The Holy Spirit for 3 years about 30 years after Jesus
died on the cross. Since The Holy Spirit is Jesus in Spirit form, I would trust Paul, someone who was
beaten and persecuted, to tell me what God wanted before I would trust someone or others that
were not taught by The Holy Spirit and whose teachings are in direct conflict with what God told
Paul to say and whose position would be removed if they believed God's Word as His Truth and as
God Himself since the Bible says, "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God." To deny
God's Word who God Himself says is He Himself is to call God a liar since His Word and Him are One and
the same.

God's Word makes it clear that women can teach God's Word to other women and children. They can
lead women based ministries and teach other women on a large scale. But a woman's first priority is
to teach her own children. Women are not to be Pastors or hold any position that empowers them
to have control over or teach men.
God said Man is His glory and only allows man to stand before God and teach His Word. God said
woman is the glory of man and as such, can not preach God's Word to men or have authority over
man which is higher in God's authority than women are. Women are not empowered as God has
empowered men to teach everyone. Woman can teach all but men under God's Word.

It boils down to answering this: Which is more right? A woman's freedom under the constitution and what
she has become accustomed to in the Western World that has no need for God? Or, following God's Word
regardless of the cost or loss of position?

Corner... you made a leap.

Where does the NT teach the use of women as a functional part of the assembly?

The older women ARE to teach the younger... but if you will notice the content, it has nothing to do with doctrine. Rather it is the practical aspects of being a faithful wife and mother (Titus 2).

Titus 2 does not only refer to mothers and daughters...

Women are told to teach younger women
to love
to discern
to be chaste
to be sober minded etc.

This goes way beyond your limited statement.....the basis of doctrine is LOVE. I do not believe that women are to pastor, but they are to teach. The directive is given in Titus 2
