This AP story is getting around. Four hundred people coming together does not make a mega-church. I wonder how many came the SECOND and THIRD week. The movement is interesting, but this movement will die out for the same reason as atonement-less churches die out - if self-improvement and doing nice things is what it is all about, there is nothing to hold one's interest over time and the pressures of life.
Almost everywhere is an atheist temple; you can go to the nearest Liquor store and it is one of their sub-temples.

How is a non belief in something a religion? Is your non belief in Allah a religion in itself? Is your non belief in Santa a religon? No, it's not.

It is the very same process of self-indoctrination. We are all attracted to that which we are presupposed to believe, while turning a more blind eye to that which conflicts with it.
There is a reason that only about 4% of the population of the U.S. is smart enough to believe there is no a God (CIA Factbook last time I checked).
Besides the conversion of my heart, and my relationship with Jesus Christ, another confirming reason for me to believe is consideration of the available evidence.

Religions, by definition, worship a god or gods. Atheism, by definition, does not. A gathering that resembles a church meeting is not a church meeting if it doesn't have the required attributes (such as worship)... it is merely "a gathering that resembles a church meeting".
It's funny that atheists even have to "refute" this. The implication of calling atheists religious is based on religion being a "bad" thing. Of course we atheists can see it that way, but I don't understand how Christians can accept that premise. If you didn't see religion as a negative thing, then why would you try to fit your opponents into one?

Atheism is a religion. It takes faith to be an atheist. Just like it takes faIth to be an evolutionist.
I think all religions are a partial fit to this one. I don't think most of the people of cc are part of a religion, we are part of seeking the truth of our Creator, of the spiritual part of the world we live in.
Because sin is so much of part of this world, a basic knowledge of our world has to include what our creator did for us who also live in the spiritual part, a knowledge of Christ and what He did for us.
More and more people are living only in the secular world, these people are just gathering together. They are just people who the bible calls dead getting together. There are many groups of the dead like Muslims, the Mormons who follow Jesus only as a great man, or Buddhist.

Good and correct point, though I would suggest no less indoctrinated and self-indoctrinated.
What the Godless wish to believe is religion, based on the histories of institutions that have masqueraded as such, may indeed not be the best thing. Few things have kept the unregererate away from a relationship with God more.
But being a Christian isn't about a religion, but a relationship. As these former Muslims attest:

I don't put faith in anything. I don't know how we got here. But just because I don't know doesn't mean I have to accept something without evidence. I refuse to solve a mystery... with a mystery.
There's nothing wrong with saying 'I don't know'. Maybe if more people were comfortable with admitting that then maybe there wouldn't be so many different conflicting theories and stories trying to explain something that we'll probably never know the answer to.

People with non belief in Santa aren't getting together and acting religious like these atheist churches are doing.
No they are going out and getting toys for kids at Christmas just like Santa does.
