In John 14 we hear these words of comfort as Jesus prepares his disciples for his departure from this world.

John 14:25-27 (NIV)

"All this I have spoken while still with you. But theAdvocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will sendin my name, will teach you all things and will remindyou of everything I have said to you.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not letyour hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”.

Two thousand years later – Jesus has returned to the Father. We have been redeemed or saved by his death. We have been given the gift of the Holy Spirit. We have scripture to guide us on our journey of Christian faith. .We have been given the perfect peace by Jesus. And our hearts should not be troubled and we should not be afraid!

I totally agree with the above Scripture and paragraph. When we accept the gift of redemption, the gift of the Holy Spirit, the gift of Scripture, and dedicate our lives to Christ, we are given the perfect peace

What happened to the disciples after the verses in John? Were their lives filled with peace after the departure of Jesus? Did the gift of the Holy Spirit fill them with peace? Were their hearts troubled? Were they afraid? By all of the standards of this World, their lives were not peaceful and they had much to fear.

However, if we look carefully at them we see men who were at peace with their worlds. We also see a group of men who were filled with passion and a burning desire and fire to share the experience of a personal relationship with Jesus. They received the gift of the Holy Spirit and used the power of the Spirit to fuel the fire of their passion for Christ.

The disciples set the standards for all future disciples of Jesus like you and me to try to follow. In total humility and without pride or boasting, I have been blessed by God to experience what the early disciples did. Because of two dreams I had in 2010, I know the perfect peace of the love of God. I know how it feels to face death I know the elation of knowing that the Christian faith can conquer death. I was able to experience what Heaven may be like. I was welcomed to Heaven by these words from God - “Jack, I am glad you are here. I have been waiting for you” – I received the gift of the Holy Spirit and was able to witness the comfort, presence, and the power of the Spirit in my life and faith. Words are inadequate to describe what it feels like to know our God at this level.

I make feeble attempts to describe and share this experience in my book “At the End of Our Journey” and posting on various Christian and non-Christian websites You can learn more about me, my faith, and my book at www.attheendofourjourney.com.

I share my experience with you not to judge your level faith, or if you are saved, or the Church you belong to, or to change what you believe. I share because I want all Christians to be filled with the passion, power, and the perfect peace, that the first disciples experienced 2000 years ago and I was blessed to experience in my life.

Follow your own path, seek your own council, make your own choices, seek your own relationship with Jesus. However, please, please, please never stop asking questions and seeking answers.
