God granted the apostles permission to preach to the masses and perform miracles through the holy spirit. Remember the tongues of fire?

Miracles may be supernatural, but they don't need to be anything particularly big or awe-inspiring, yes?
We might not be able to perform miracles directly, but we may open the door for the Lord to perform miracles. Just the moment of someone seeing us feed a homeless man on a street can allow God a moment to touch that person's heart.

The Lord works in mysterious ways. God might take advantage of our actions or something we say in order to help someone out.

For myself, I oppose healing and miracles today because there is no evidence of any sickness being healed other than by normal natural or medical means.
Nearly every miracle healing can be falsified or attributed to natural means.
Research faith healings and try to find anything that has been confirmed or documented or published in a medical journal.
Hmmm....well, during a Salvation Army Alpha Course talk on 'Does God Heal Today?', the wife of the course leader testified that the previous year, on the same course, she had received prayer for a detached retina. She was worried about the operation so asked for prayer. She then testified she had been completely healed and the doctor could not explain it except to say it seems to have 'righted itself!'.

Some of the group were Sally Army helpers on the course and were flabbergasted not just that she had been healed but because she had not told anyone and kept it secret for a year. The lady explained that she didn't want to 'offend' anyone nor appear 'special' because others may not have been healed or are still suffering.

I know the lady was telling the truth because I saw her eye before we prayed for her. Her husband also attested to the healing as did her doctor, in his sceptical way.

I believe like most Christians that God can and does heal. In fact only God can heal both physical and Spiritual healing are from God. I do not believe in faith healers. I do not believe that we should seek to be a faith healer as such. I believe the gift of healing is given to the infirmed person directly from God. Now scripture teaches that we should pray over and anoint such a one as needs to be healed.

It is not always God's will that one should be healed. The apostle Paul had an infirmity in his flesh that he prayed for three times and the Lord did not remove it. There is a ministry unto the Lord in suffering. I know of none who seek this ministry but many who by Gods will suffer for His glory.

What you need to ask for is Holy Spirit baptism, not the giftings of Him. Then He gives as God wills. It is Jesus who is the baptizer too by the way. It is His Spirit that performs miracles, not us. He moves through His body. We can do nothing He said, without Him.

Nothing has ceased. Not the 5 fold ministry, not the gifts, and not miracles.

His body is not dry bones...selah!

To those naysayers that give credit to the devil for modern miracles:
Mark 16:17-18 (KJV)
[SUP]17 [/SUP]And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [SUP]18 [/SUP]They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
1 John 4:4 (KJV) [SUP]4 [/SUP]Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

It is written in the bible but does God say it to you today? Does it mean that everyone who will be able to read that verse in the bible today means that God is talking to that everyone? Is the Lord God the bible?

How will you be able to know that except you presume?

Thank God that He healed you but to immitate what the apostles did in healing then is another thing. The difference between us and the apostles then is that they were under the teaching of the Lord while various churches today are under the teaching of men pastors and the bible.
You are describing religion....Jesus himself, gave us the very same authority he had and to even more than the 12 apostles...

Okay i see there are many who say it is not possible or we shouldn't do it. I admit i have seen ppl pretend to do miracles just to make bank and fool many. But to say God no longer does this,... All i see is doubt and unbelief, not meaning to be mean of course but this is why you do not see these things. I am not seeking a sign from this, but i felt moved to try and who is to say it won't or shouldn't happen? We humans put God in a box so much, but what might happen if one soul decided to believe outside the box and take Gods words as it says when he promises something?
I have seen things on the mission field and even in some churches in the US that are signs, wonders and miracles...I was aksed to pray for a little blind girl in Costa Rica and there was no doubt she was blind, both eyes were dead, anyone could tell that...She was standing in front of me and the sun was coming down right in her face with full intensity that would make you or eye cover our eyes. She did nothing, while her mom and grandma watched and were shielding their own eyes from the sun.

Before I prayed I listened to the Holy Ghost and did exactly what he said. I asked the girl to close her eyes and then put my hands over both eyes and prayed for that little girl and watched as God made both eyes whole. The fact she screamed and covered her eyes when I removed my hands and asked her to open them was pretty much confirmation! She kept shouting how bright it was in Spanish. The girl was 5 years old and blind from birth and the most awesome part of this testimony is when her Momma picked her up and the little girl kept caressing her Mom's face and saying, my Mama es Bonita! Which means" MY MOM IS PRETTY!!

We received confirmation the next night of the revival from her family DR, the girl had been born blind and could see better than an eagle!!

GLORY TO GOD!!! somebody give GOD a praise!

Keep up the faith and don't let those which seek to put God in a box steal your faith, because they have a spirit of unbelief.

Without being rude, there are several posting here that would wet their pants if they ever saw a creative miracle, healing, or the blind see, the lame walk or a deliverance from possession!

I never usually say much on chat boards, but the wolves need to be silenced....YES, God still works miracles today and through PEOPLE, just like he always has and it was not for then and happens in the now all OVER the world. We don't see in the US because of the sheer lack of belief.

I would urge you to get to know any missionaries your church supports and take them to a neutral location like your hosue for lunch and ask them to share what God has done through them..

The biggest failure today is the church thinking they don't have the right, the place or the power and authority and that is not in the Bible, nor was just for signs back in the day, because Jesus said we would do greater works than he did.

Let your faith grow and refuse to let others with lesser faith or belief shake what God has revealed to you!

Don't throw pearls before pigs either....

Stop saying the Lord works in mysterious ways, its a lie and dishonors him...His ways are not our ways, and they are not a mystery for the son or daughter who walks in the Spirit

Prove to me with chapter and verse where in the Bible it states that GOD DOES NOT want you healed!
This is lie straight form hell and used for years to keep people held captive by the enemy!

This is also a lie, because if it were true it would mean that you never would have your glorified body!

Going home is the ultimate healing.......period!

If you want to see and do the works of God you have to live the life the apostles did. Also, its Jesus working in you not you. That indicates to me that Jesus isn't in most of the "Church" so called. I think the next miracle the false church will see is the Word of God coming down out of heaven.

We cannot perform miracles. God performs them every single day and they are His to perform.

I don't know the words out of his mouth were that we would do them.

John 14:12Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

- As far as i know, yes my brain is functioning normally
- yes
- I know my brain is working because I'm alive and thinking, walking, talking etc..

- I cannot see my own brain, but others can observe my brain through MRI imaging (neuroscience)
- No i do not doubt its abilities because i have evidence that its working.

I am sorry but i don't see the analogy, God's power is analogous to the human brain?
Even so, the difference is there is evidence linking the cause/effect relationship between the brain and thinking, walking, talking, etc.
Things attributed to Gods power have yet to show a causal relationship, at best you have an unexplained phenomenon.
