In Mathews it explains that we must forgive others so Christ can forgive us. How could we be saved unless God forgives us?
We need to love God, and Christ said that if you love me you will keep my commandments.

That is the way I would like God to do it. But I don't think scripture says that is what happens, and you and I can't dictate to God. Scripture doesn't say you "ought" to forgive. I says that if you don't, God "can't" forgive you. It doesn't even give us a way to reason ourselves into doing this, it just plain gives us the way the facts of our spiritual world is.
