12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
17 And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

so would just like to say to anyone going through any troubles for the holiday just put your complete trust in God despite whatever situation it is his promises are eternal

You have brought up such a beautiful topic concerning the promises of God and those on this site, who many consider to be spiritual giants in their understanding of the word, don't want to be bothered with these exceeding great and precious promises because they are not intellectual enough to stimulate them in some form of knowledge about God. The carnal believer who walks according to the flesh is not interested in God's promises. It is the spiritual man who cleaves to God's promises and understands that not one of his good promise will fall to the ground. There are some 7,834 promises in the scriptures we have been given and they are all yea and amen. Trusting God has to do with embracing his promises by faith and never letting go. No matter what we go through in the plan of God it is for our sake and for us to learn how to walk by faith in God's promises.

2 Peter 1:1-10

1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

I love rainbows and I love the promises of God! What a great thread topic & op. Last week I was driving and this change in the weather took place quickly. Dark clouds, sprinkling, that certain kind of lighting and clear over in the west, bright. I thought, Oh goodness this is the perfect condition for a rainbow! There are always the coolest rainbows over in this area, too. And, me without my camera, again. So I started to scan the sky, nothing, nothing... sitting at the intersection, searching, to the right just ahead, sure enough a gorgeous rainbow, yay! I thought the beauty & promises of God, He is SO awesome, "the brightness of His glory". About a mile down the road, omgoodness another one! Then, no kidding again! I saw three rainbows, it was fabulous. I dig stuff like that. One day, coming home from work, I saw four sundogs. Just made me think, there is this artist I love some of his Christian works, Tom Dubois. Thanks for the positive energy, the promises of God are great to think on and that the Father made a promise to the Son in eternity that created grace by eternal love. The gospel of the grace of God really is a deep subject.

Once before I was married I was driving to work and was feeling down, I looked over at the beautiful mountains with snow and green and brown and blue and purple and the sun rising behind them with its oranges and reds and I gave glory to the God whose invisible attributes I could clearly see in His creation. A woman was watching me and saw my change in demeanor, followed me to work and put a note on my truck. She wanted to ask me out. She wanted to know what made me change so much just looking at the mountains. I got a chance to tell her what God's promises mean to me.

No, I didn't marry her, but I was able to share God's promises and reality to her.

[h=3]Isaiah 43[/h][h=1]21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

1 But now thus saith the Lord who created thee, O Jacob, and He that formed thee, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed thee; I have called thee by thy name; thou art Mine.
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee. When thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned, neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3 For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Savior; I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

Isaiah 54:9“For this is like the days of Noah to Me,
When I swore that the waters of Noah
Would not flood the earth again;
So I have sworn that I will not be angry with you
Nor will I rebuke you. 10“For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake,
But My lovingkindness will not be removed from you,
And My covenant of peace will not be shaken,”
Says the LORD who has compassion on you.
11“O afflicted one, storm-tossed, and not comforted,
Behold, I will set your stones in antimony,
And your foundations I will lay in sapphires.
12“Moreover, I will make your battlements of rubies,
And your gates of crystal,
And your entire wall of precious stones.

the key to life is faith and love....... hope is the fruit of those two things. faith is for every thing that enters that enters the realm of our existence......we trust in GODS soverignty and ownersip of every second and detail of our lives and that trust is from the inside out, and love is our expression of and the reaction to the work of GOD from the inside out. And hope is the fruit of those two principals working in us.

Hebrews 11:1) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Thank God for his consistency and the fact that God keeps his promises. I am a stickler for keeping your /my word and it amazes me how easily the people of the world and even worldly believers will disregard their word and not do the things that they have promised to do. I know we have all failed at one time or another as there is only one who is perfect. The truth is that almost everyone around me has failed in the above...some out of ignorance, some willingly and some just plainly forgot.

The bow in the cloud is God. When you look up and see a cloud thats too bright to even look at and you must lower your head, thats the bow in the cloud
