As Christians, should we help animals not get extinct?
Because on Judgement Day, Satan will be realeased from the Abyss and with unbelievers stay on earth for 1000 years and who knows what will happen in that 1000years. So in the end, saving endangered animals is useless because after Armageddon the whole Earth is going to be renewed.

Correct me if i'm wrong.

I say we are to protect them because God made men and women stewards of His creation. God decides the ultimate end of His creation. We are not to decide that for Him. We are called to care for His creation. Some danger exists in the worship of this mentality, the idolatry of saving animals. It can become more important than saving human life to some people. And that is a dangerous thing.

I believe we should help protect animals and their habitats. We should be good keepers of the beautiful planet God placed us on. You can start helping the environment by doing basic things like recycling and re-using, using energy-efficient light bulbs, planting trees, etc.

Cheers :)

Since God created man as the governor of creation having set him over all of God's handiwork and has given man the mandate to rule over everything he had made, then I would have to conclude that the care of all life forms are part of that mandate.

I think we should save people before we start saving animals. As much as it breaks my heart to see animals that are homeless, I think we focus far too much on them and not nearly enough on human beings who are in the same predicament.

That said, I am a conservation minded individual who believes that we shouldn't go sleeping where we poop, as it were. The days of undiluted waste runoff from agriculture and of dumping waste from industrial processes should be over. But, I'm a staunch supporter of nuclear energy, so I don't fit in well with most environmentalists.

No, the earth is not going to be renewed. It's going to be burnt up in fire. See 2 Peter.

So it's pretty pointless saving endangered species, unless they are big, fluffy, cuddly or magnificent specimens of God's creation, that our children should have the privilege of seeing. Ultimately the time is coming when all tigers are either going to be confined to zoos or reserves, as they are just too dangerous to have around.

One day this crazed, liberal, animal rights activist is going off on me.

He's telling me everything wrong with society, and the earth, and the bible.

He's telling me how we shouldn't harm any animals, for any reason, and it's wicked.

After he rants for a while, and finally starts winding down, I point at his shoes.

"Hey, those are really nice sneakers. Are those the new ones that just came out?"

He smiles, "Yeah, they're really cool. Great for cross training."

I point again, "Hey, aren't those made of... DEAD COW LEATHER."
:)

He slinked away, and never spoke to me again.

We need to take care of the earth, and the earth's creatures, as much as we can.
But we don't need to act ridiculous, or put animals above humans.

: )

I worked at WalMart in the fabric section and I was talking with a coworker about how I wanted to declaw my cat. A shopper looked at me and said, "That is so inhumane! Do you know what they do? They break the cats feet so that the nails don't grow! That's horrible and cruel!"

I looked her right in the eye and said, "Well, when we stop aborting babies by the thousands, then you can talk to me about how cruel it is to declaw my cat."

She shut her mouth and walked away.

Deuteronomy 22:6-7

King James Version (KJV)

6 If a bird's nest chance to be before thee in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, thou shalt not take the dam with the young:
7 But thou shalt in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to thee; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days.

God is going to make all things new and as far as animals go... Wouldn't it be better to wage a stance against abortion and or better treatment of the elderly that have been crammed away in scary old looking hospitals that smell like urine? Just asking that is...

Thank you every one for replying, according to Gjolll:

2 Peter 3:10(NIV)
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.

I have to respectfully disagree to the second post on this thread by
mystdancer50. Through the Second Epistle of Peter, we know that the Earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Unless, Peter assumes that or something else , but it is less likely Peter would, because he is filled with the Holy Spirit.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

So, you don't believe in the New Heaven and the New Earth?

The following are countries that apparetnly have banned the practice of declawing pet cats:

  • England
  • Scotland
  • Wales
  • Italy
  • Austria
  • Switzerland
  • Norway
  • Sweden
  • Ireland
  • Denmark
  • Finland
  • Slovenia
  • Brazil
  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • Serbia
  • Montenegro
  • Macedonia
  • Slovenia
  • France
  • Germany
  • Bosnia
  • Malta
  • Netherlands
  • Northern Ireland
  • Portugal
  • Belgium
  • Israel
They don't break the cat's feet however, this woman was not properly informed. On the other hand it is fairly major surgery and requires a very painful recovery period. There are alternatives. Unless of course you want to punish your cat to get even with those people carrying out abortions????

I fail to see hoe declawing cats and human selective abortions are related, other than both are disgusting me.

You mean... "not go extinct."

Atheists are sometimes quite critical of Christians for their lack of concern for the welfare of the environment and those creatures that depend upon it. It is good to see that many Christians here, in response to your question, want other Christians to take upon themselves the role of good stewards of the earth. If I were God I'd be quite put out with those who let the earth die because they didn't care enough about other life forms to preserve them.

My point as well. They are not related.

I didn't realize what was actually involved in the procedure till I researched it following Mystdancers post. If I were a cat I would not want that kind of surgery.

Is God going to bring back the dodo, the passenger pigion and all the other extinct species? I've got the feeling you don't really know, but perhaps you can tell me exactly what you mean?

There are hospitals like that where you live? Very sad.

All who love the heavenly Father will cherish the blessings He bestows upon us for what He proposed them. Anyone abusive to His blessings demonstrates his disdain for His goodness and wisdom.
