It was a life saving Bible truth to know that as a daughter of God because of Jesus, I am forgiven sins past, present and future. Because I also can attest to Jesus gift of salvation to be once for all, I daily rest in "eternal" salvation, not temporary salvation based on my ever changing emotions.

This truth is not something I can understand by human reason. It has to be Holy Spirit given and understood. It takes the Holy Spirit to make this real to human fleshly understanding. Human reasoning says I must "do" something. How to accept grace for daily living if it takes away my "part"???? Something I've been learning God wants me to finally - "get" There is NO -my- part. Grace is not of me, it is -for- me because i need it., must learn to lean on it and use it. All of Him none of me. Without Him I can do nothing.

While contemplating these truths this year, the verses in 1 John 1:5-9 have come to mean something different than I was taught and really believed for over 30 years.

Since I have received Jesus as Saviour, and am accepted 100% because of Jesus Christ, there is never a time I will not be accepted...ever. Even in times of hardship or double mindedness. As His daughter, I am always "in" Him. So, instead of looking at 1 John 1:9 as a verse for believers to confess sins,, I see it as a verse for salvation showing what God's children will have and those who are already God's children do already have and are already experiencing.

We are children of light...not the night. All who are children of God are children of light and the blood of Christ cleanses and continually cleanses us from sin. As the hymn by Francis Ridgley Havergale states... "There Is a Fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanual's veins, and sinners plunge beneath that flood loose all their guilty stains...." We plunged in as sinners and lost all our guilty stains.

God never calls His children "sinners" He calls us "saints and children" The enemy does not want us to grasp this life changing truth for our daily christian life. Because it will set us free to do God's will, no longer hiding from His wrath because there is no wrath for His kids.

If we really are now the children of God, we have been given this great gift of salvation and the daily relationship with God through Christ. Because He died, we live. God turned His face away from His sinlelss Son so He could look at us sinners and see Jesus righteousness. No ugly sin, no condemnation --only--- because of Christ Jesus. He became sin, we gained His righteousness. He took our sin, we took His righteousness. The great transaction.

My first interpretation of 1 John 1:9 says we have fellowship with Him if we (don't ) walk in darkness, lie and do not think or practice sin. but if we walk in the light as He is in the light we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin... (This is the beginning result) This I believe is said to all the unsaved because they need to confess and become righteous in Christ. But for me right now as a daughter, I am continually cleansed as soon as I sin and that allows me to come to the Father with my daily admissions and realizations of sin. Guilt has no longer control over me because I must and do see myself as IN Jesus Christ.

satan wants us to see ourselves and not Jesus. If the enemy can trick us into seeing our frailty and not Jesus power, we are defeated every time with no hope for today or the future. If we have guilt of sin, we hide from Him because we do not understand He already accepts us in the Beloved., we have free access to Him by His Son Jesus Who is seated on the right hand of the Father. He the Great High Priest Who --unlike the human Jewish high priests who could never sit down, but had to come over and over for the people (and themselves) with the blood of animals as temporary payment.

We are already righteous IN Christ. We do not need to -become- righteous because we already are in Jesus and the blood of Jesus Christ continually cleanses us from all sin- past, present and future.

This is a major change in interpretation for myself. But if I am the righteousness of God IN Christ I am already righteous and no longer need to be cleansed from all sin because Jesus is already doing that for me because I am already IN Jesus and being cleansed continually by The Great High Priest.

I am not saying sinless perfection. I am saying because God knew we would sin while still in these imperfect earthly bodies, He put us in a new relationship with Him by His son Who cleanses us every time we sin so our place is never orphaned but always sons and daughters. When we sin we now have an Advocate with the Father and we now can cry Abba Father... Daddy.

Each day I strive to remember there is therefor now no condemnation and the door to God is open to me. This goes against my human reason. Grace makes no human sense. But is understood by the Spirit giving light to the Word of God. I believe we never stop learning what God's Word says. He opens doors in His Word all the time and it is new every morning., even when i thought i already understood a verse.,there is more to it.
And all this is because Jesus made a way to relationship to God.
From this kind of love I gain a great foothold of truth for daily christian walking. I wanted to encourage anyone who might read this and to fellowship with you too about what Jesus has really done for our sanctification. In this world He said we will have tribulation but we can be joyous as we travel through the pain of life and the joys of life since He is with us.
He has already over come the world. And we will too because we are in Him.
God bless you. ladylynn :)

The revelation of such a truth is so liberating! Praise the Lord! We have overcome the world.:)

"He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son." Rev. 21.

"For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? 1 John 5.:)

Thank you for your post!

What a beautiful testimony to God's love and grace!

I know when I went from believing I could losing my salvation to realizing God loved me so much he died on the cross, BEFORE I knew him. So if he loved me before I knew him, I knew nothing could stop that love of God AFTER I believed in Christ.

"but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

Of course, I did NOT go out and start treating grace as cheap, and began to sin wantonly!! Instead, I realized the gift of salvation and my relationship with God were even more precious, knowing how much God loved me.

So glad God gave you this insight and understanding that being "born again", means being born into the family of God forever!

I don't think there are too many serious believers who do that. But, just like many things that Christians are accused of, when repeated over and over again, many believe it to be.
