Okay so I made a thread on a different site on this exact same thing. So I have literally just copied and pasted it, cause I don't feel like re-typing all the stuff I wrote.

Although every picture I've seen of Jesus portrays him with long hair, I think it's safe to say that Jesus infact did not have long hair. I guess I'll start with some scripture, Ezekiel 44:20 says "neither shall they shave their heads, nor sufer their locks to grom long." Jewish people in that day and time were to cut their hair every 30 days, so it would not grow to long. Now the next assumption people make, is that well Jesus was from Nazareth, so he made the nazarite vow and couldn't cut his hair. For those of you that don't know what the Nazarite vow is, Numbers 6:2-3,6 will describe it. Basically though you can't cut your hair, can't touch dead things, and you can't drink wine or eat the grapes. Now it is proof that Jesus did not take the Nazarite vow, as he drank wine Matt. 11:19 and he touched the hand of the dead girl Matt. 9:25. So, now that it is clear that Jesus did not make the Nazarite vow, we know that he was aloud to cut his hair. In 1 Cor 11:14 it says "Does not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair it is a shame unto him." So, contrary to popular belief I belive that Jesus did not have long hair. Now if someone thinks he did, than please tell me, cause I've always wanted to know what Jesus would have looked like, lol. BTW this thread has no purpose or point behind it,lol.

Very interesting question...I've wondered this myself. I'm not sure what the answer is though. I may just do some research and things to see what I come up with. I like how you think, makes others use their/our brains lol! I shall post what I find, but there's no promise on when it'll be done. I have a lot going on right now...be blessed, and again, thanks for the great question!

I am set that he didn't have long hair, but if others have proof that he did I would be glad to listen. I love questions like these, they don't really hold any value upon your salvation, but they are intriguing and get's you to wonder :) It's fine don't rush back with an answer. God bless.

Correct me if wrong, but I always thought that a Nazarite, and a Nazarene, a person from the place of Nazareth, where two entirely different things.

I agree Jesus didn't have long hair - he dressed like any other Jew at the time. And I doubt he wore shining white bleached clothes too.

I didn't think they were, but it is possible. I would have to find that out. You could easily be right, I just always thought they were the same.

Its interesting that you should mention this because I did a little research on my own and like you said it is pretty clear that Jesus did not take the nazarite vow.

I heard a speaker talk on this subject who had done a lot of reasearch and he said that paintings came out of Jesus having long hair around 1100 A.D. He said it was to try to feminize Jesus and make Him look like less of a Judge. He also said that there was a painting found of Jesus dated around 100 A.D were some of it was torn but you could make out that Jesus had short curly hair. Now if it was painted around 100 A.D. then it could have been painted by somebody that knew somebody that knew Him

Of course this was what this man said so anything that someone says that I don't have full proff of I cant hold on to completely. But it does make sense, because why would Jesus contridict Paul's teaching.

Now why would the Nazarite's be able to have long hair you might ask. Well I came across and article and I sommerized it as follows:

When the priests or the Nazarites represented God to the people. He was a male before the people. This is why only men were to be priests. In Leviticus 6:10 is states And the priest shall put on his linen garment , and his linen breeches shall he put upon his flesh. See some people say that men wore dresses back in the Bible but my belief is that They wore a long garment and then wore pants under it. At least the priest anyway.

However, when the Nazarites stood before God to represent the people, he stood as a Bride to God Just as the church is the Bride of Christ.

Normally, the man represents the "Divine Husband," He wears short hair.

The women represents the Bride. She wears long hair.

That is kind of what I concluded on my research.

Unless the internet is wrong (lol) , yes, Nazarite and Nazarene are two completely different things, so, its' a common misconception you are addressing. The reason people think Jesus took a nazarite vow and grew long hair is because they don't understand the difference between a nazarene and nazarite vow, the words sound the same, easy mistake to make.

I had also read that the first paintings weren't done until midevil times. I had heard an interesting opinion on it as well, not that this holds any ground because it has no biblical backing, but he was a trades man, a carpenter. If he had long hair like people portray him to, would it not get in the way, and be a hazzard?

Good point, it might have gotten caught in Jesus's electric lathe.

Or the fact of he is sweating like crazy, cause it is hard labour, and he would have to constantly be putting it out of his eyes.

Yep, so you've got a few good evidences that Jesus did not have long hair.

I just thought it was weird because every picture of him is with long hair. I wondered if there was proof that he did have long hair though.

The question that lays here is, were they genuine dreams/visions?
