[SUP]10 [/SUP]“‘I will set my face against any Israelite or any foreigner residing among them who eats blood, and I will cut them off from the people. [SUP]11 [/SUP]For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.[SUP]12 [/SUP]Therefore I say to the Israelites, “None of you may eat blood, nor may any foreigner residing among you eat blood.”

(Leviticus 17: 10-11, NIV)

OT Foodlaws don't apply to christians.
I'm not sure that it was blood btw. The animals are bled at the slaughterhouse. Most of the colour of the juice is due to a protein, myoglobin, that is stored in the muscle.

First of Jesus said food does not defile us.
since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.)
Mark 7:19
We as Christians are free to eat what we wish. The red or pink fluid that comes out of a steak is not actual blood. It is a protein called myoglobin suspended in a interstitial fluid inside the steak. Cooking a steak well done does not remove blood but the interstitial fluid has evaporated causing the myoglobin to stay in the meat.

Here is an article that explains the red fluid found in steak:
The Red Juice in Raw Red Meat is Not Blood

Deuteronomy 12:23 "Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh."

Deuteronomy 12:24 "Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water."

Read from the start of the chapter, here again Moses is reminding us that the blood pollutes the flesh of the animal that is taken for food.

Deuteronomy 12:25 "Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord."

If you don't follow these health laws, be prepared to get sick.

[size=+1]Acts 15:19 "Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:"

James is telling the Gentiles that receive the salvation of Jesus Christ , don't need to be circumcised , and brought under the Old convenient blood covenant ordinances . Remember the entire argument in the Church was about the law, and how that law applied to the Gentiles.

Acts 15:20 "But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things, strangled, and from blood."

James doesn't want them to mix with heathen ways ,any longer.

The things strangled and from blood, has to do with the health laws. Braking a health law is not a sin to death, but it is a sin against the flesh; and it brings about sickness and disease .

These are the things that should be taught the Gentiles, for their own good. When you strangle an animal, the blood stays stagnant within the body, and this is why you must bleed an animal that is killed for food. Blood carried in the meat will pollute.

heathen practices allowed the blood to be mixed into their foods. So James is telling them to follow God's heath laws.[/size][/font]

that "part" is not what the original post is about. The original post is about blood in food.

So basically , be smart, follow God's heath laws. Or you will get sick if you start eating pork, blood, shrimp, etc.

I've eaten pork and seafood in my life and I rarely fall sick. We have more hygienic practices these days.

if your eating shrimp, and other kinds of seafood, especially sea food like shrimp, clams ,etc ; you likely have been exposed to mercury or some other pollutant weather you noticed it or not.

Your putting a lot of trust in people, because they cant take out contaminates from seafood. Don't take my word for it. If anything, I read their practices , have gotten worse. After all, its their practices, not Gods .

hmm i dont personally like seafood or pork all that much(bacon is delicious though). But working in a restaurant I do know how volatile they can be without proper storage or preparation. You know what the israelites didnt have? Meat thermometers and refrigerators/freezers...maybe God was just looking out for them?

pretty sure the ritual drinking of blood in pagan religious ceremony is not the same thing as having a steak cooked rare.

all the same i like mine medium, haha. but it's not because i think it's a sin.
