I think it's the stupidest thing to write g-d or somehow treat God's name as something that God didn't want us to know. It's not even the letters that make up the name - it's the characteristics of that name. it's superstition

Hebrew names, are not like kyle - because it sounds pleasing to my ear. Jacob - meant deceiver - it's who he was. Emmanuel - God with us

I think it's a big religious crap that Jesus Christ hated. I think it shows a misunderstanding of who the Lord actually is, the lover of my soul has a name, and He wants me to know it, and write it on my heart.

short rant not a big deal, ill try not to laugh at all the people who use this, but I tend not to read their posts

I agree with both you and Don...God (Theos) is just a generic name used to define (God) if you will. God the Father has revealed unto us through Jesus all of the wonderful names that have been applied to God, by God and we are to understand what they mean and we are to use them all in application when we worship, pray and or preach/witness. I too find it a little bit over the top (in my own view and not judging those who disagree) to be so extreme when it comes to the names of God. Having said that, I will also say that we are not to blaspheme the names of God and or use them in a manner that belittles God and I especially HATE the use of God and a last name he never asked for nor declared!

Hallowed by thy name!
A name above all names written in Heaven!
Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain!

"Stupid" "Superstition" "Crap". Have you read what Christ said about saying to people "you fool"?

Instead of putting people on your shunning list for not agreeing with you, you could ask them why they do it and maybe learn something.

For anyone who reads your rant and wonders why people do not write the name of God, it is because they think of Him as so Holy that no words we humans can give Him could express all He is.

Thank you for posting this information, RedTent. I have often wondered why people did that. It makes perfect sense now. I appreciate you sharing that with us.

Knowing that God the name represents is holy, not traditions of men. Did I directly call someone a fool? I guess I better not disagree with anyone's actions, I would imply that they must be a fool. We have all done foolish things, which doesn't make us fools.

Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, - Does that meant If I just call on "Jesus" or is it calling on the purposes of Jesus, what Jesus has done, and what only Jesus can do for me. hmmm

To tell us how you understand scripture is what this forum is about, and telling how you disagree is wonderful, it is how we learn and think it through. I disagree with "crap" "stupid" "superstition" to express the disagreement, and so does scripture.

I can understand the viewpoint of people who are particular about the name we give God. In the Old Testament the word God only meant any God, idol or real, that a tribe called theirs. They used names starting with El when speaking of the one true God, like Elohim. El Elyon means the most high God.

I'm with you. It seems to me that a rose by any name is still a rose, and it is what I see in my heart of God that is important.
Perhaps we should be careful of the names we use, when we communicate with others it would help to have the name express what we feel about our God.

Don't worry my friend about that man's comment. Who God is by nature is the name of the Lord. We don't worship a title, we worship who He is. Praise His name! :)

If someone said something negative about your earthly father, would you say its just a name?

I believe you mean good, but if someone said something bad about my father I would not respond to them in any positive way.
