A visitor at a school for the deaf and dumb was writing questions on the blackboard for the children. By and by he wrote this sentence: "Why has God made me to hear and speak, and made you deaf and dumb?"The awful sentence fell upon the little ones like a fierce blow in the face. They sat palsied before that dreadful "Why?" And then a little girl arose. Her lip was trembling. Her eyes were swimming with tears. Straight to the board she walked, and, picking up the crayon, wrote with firm hand these precious words: "Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight!" What a reply! It reaches up and lays hold of an eternal truth upon which the maturest believer as well as the youngest child of God may alike securely rest -- the truth that God is your Father.Do you mean that? Do you really and fully believe that? When you do, then your dove of faith will no longer wander in weary unrest, but will settle down forever in its eternal resting place of peace. "Your Father!"

I'm still trying to figure out 'why God made that visitor so stupid as to write something that insensitive and not realize it.'

''Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in thy sight!"

i cant believe that person would be so full of pride and ignorance as to say such a thing. but then the little girl one ups him by a simple act of faith. i find that often the little ones have the strongest faith and for that i am grateful so that the adults and those seeing themselves as wise or strong will be humbled

Why did God make me to see and hear, and you deaf and dumb?

The disciples questioned Jesus about this with relation the blind. Behold what Jesus answered:

  • "And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." (John 9.1-5).

God made some people with deficiencies because if you feel mercy on them, God will also have mercy on you.

How will you live the commandment of Jesus that Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy?

God made you with eyes and ears that can see and hear so that someday you will use them to read his Words and listen to his teachings.

God made you to fear Him (Ecclesiastes 12:14) To fear God means staying away from anything evil in Proverbs 16:6.
