I do this myself often, and it is very convenient in many cases. I see this time and time again, and it makes me wonder about the intent of the poster. Due credit needs to be given when a copy and paste is done. Either tell us it is a C&P or provide a link. It is intellectually dishonest to allow someone to think it is your words when it isn't. To be completely upfront in all respects, it seems to me that we would all want to follow a simple guideline like this. When you copy and paste and either deny it or refuse to answer about it, it tells the room you are being dishonest.

Surprising that one isn't in CC's rules.

Yes, very yes! And don't copy and paste the whole blinkin' website either. A paragraph or two is fine but it's important to add your own input too (this is after all, a discussion board). Finally, just provide a link to the rest, if it's relevant and necessary to the topic at hand.

'blinkin'? Is that what the websites do down under? I've heard some were bloody not blinkin.

The message I get from the videos and copy and paste is that someone is telling me what to study, or that I haven't searched the net at all for information, so they will do it for me. I am so old I get that "you are dumb because you are old" enough, without posters saying they can lead me by the hand to what I am supposed to study.

I am vitally interested in people and what they are thinking about, or even that they found a new study that was interesting. But tell me about it, don't put the study itself where the purpose is sharing what you think.

I am a copy and paste person. In no way would I do it thinking someone is
not able to think for themselves. I do copy and paste more because of memory.
I am not blessed with photographic memory. I apologize for offending anyone
for giving the impression it is against them. So does this mean I should go
sit on a chair and sit in the corner for being naughty?

Speaking of that, I have this week brought over 2 major news items and I did
copy and paste. Too many tend to see a link and just post from title, not
having read the topic.

I guess it is just me... but I feel like people don't want to know what is going
on in the world and how near the return of Jesus is. So am I wasting my time?

You know I had some stuff cut and pasted and was made to look like it was something I said when I hadn't said it like a week ago.....I was not happy about it, but let it slide as God seen it, knows what I said, and will bring all liars down!

Please read and understand the whole post. I do it myself. It is very handy many times. Just give credit where credit is due, and don't try to make people think you thought it up all by yourself. And, as another poster pointed out, don't put up pages of it. No one is going to read voluminus material so it is a waste of your time, our time, and band width. Thank you.

I always follow your posts carefully because they are what you are studying and what you are thinking about and you have always made that clear. I have never felt your posts were just someone else's ideas but you always put yourself in the picture and talk about the copy.

Wow are you in a bad mood ? I did read the post. I was confessing I have copied and pasted
more to let it be known why. I would like for you to follow my past and see if I post pages.
One thing I have forgotten to put where I got my material, and by time I discover I forgot I
didn't put who wrote it, it was too late. My time was up. Can you make them give us at least
a little more time to make corrections ? I truly try to make it known I am not the writer. And
usually if I do post my own thoughts you will note I put my own initial on it. Oh, heck, we
all make mistakes. BTW... glad to know it is okay to post a little bit of something....
And I did make a mistake on one that came out duplicate. It came up showing it did not
post. When I hit it... it did repeat.. I am sorry for that. I think it happened at least 3
times and could not correct.. Oh well, life goes on and we will still be making errors and
hopefully learning until Christ comes back for his Church. ~ J~K~2

Thank you RedTent. I appreciate your interest in what is taking place. I have to pass
up some good topics because I don't feel I have enough meat in my vocabulary to help
build on what is being taught. Also I really would not ever want to purposely copy and
paste and over power an original poster. The Lord knows, I can be an air head ~ So
if you ever see me making error please feel free to correct me ~ ~J~K~2

There is nothing wrong with copying and pasting. Just let people know when you do it.

If you think you are providing something beneficial, and you enjoy the effort that it takes – go for it.

Good call Phil. Plagiarism can still exist even on Discussion Boards. It might seem minor or innocent, but it is plagiarism nonetheless, but we should give credit where it's due.

Thanks for posting this.

(BTW, these were my own personal thoughts, I didn't copy and paste this opinion:p)

I've had copy and paste arguments used against me before. I don't mind it so much, but it bothers me when the offender doesn't understand what they've cut and paste and are unable to discuss it further. They just saw something that looks good but have no real clue what it actually says.

It is dishonest and violates the intent of the 9th Commandment to C&P something without giving due credit.

Always read at the bottom of copy, or read the rules of where you are getting
it. They will tell you if it may be used or not. If you do take even a paragraph
out, I agree, tell where you got it. I am guilty of posting something and forget
to come back and check it out. I don't stay here all day and end up realizing
I forgot to check for response. Oops. J~K~2

Some of you accuse others of copy and paste when they wrote their own responses and you accuse them because they are so sound in the faith and so confident with their ability to communicate with conviction in the love of God. It must be a bummer to some of you to have those on this site so stable in the word and doctrine that they don't have to strive to communicate good wholesome understanding in the word of truth, who also have had their hearts established in the grace of God.

I copy and paste all the time in this forum. But only Bible verses. I sometimes quote from books, and I always ** it and put the book name next to it, or at the bottom. I use links in other forums, like the News forum Misc. etc.

I have 8 years of post-secondary schooling. It is so drilled into my head to cite the reference, I feel like a criminal if I do not. But I have not been always posting which Bible I use. Maybe that is a bad thing, too?

Good post - I will not read a long copy and paste. You can always tell, because the article tends to lose its formatting, like spaces between paragraphs. Of course, lots of people forget to put spaces between paragraphs, and it is really them, like in the family forum, so I always request them to do it next time.

My eyes aren't good enough to read 50-100 lines on a computer without some space breaks.
