I once met a baptist man that said ever since Jesus came God has not been angry at all at anybody or anything that happens in this world...hmmm...I don't know what to say to that besides, "That's not my experience of either God or Jesus Christ."

First there is sin. I do not think God is smiling when He sees it, yes He gets upset, and I believe He still gets angry, even as a father might that truly saw everything his children do...and then there are things like abortion and rape and murder that I think 'vex' God and cause his wrath to pour over...

Second, while I DO believe that God's wrath is satisfied with the death of Christ, I DO NOT believe that means he is no longer mad at anyone or anything...as if after Jesus Christ, God were to say, "Do whatever you want" and then smile while you became immersed in darkness...note: I am saying I do not believe that.

Third, there is a great mystery in that Paul says he is suffering to bring to completion the sacrifice of Christ...something I have never seen a preacher focus on, for it is only a few words that Paul remarks upon his suffering...but I think the Lord does still release wrath upon those who dwell in unrepentant sin...and if the saying that is true for Christian folk just as it is true for the ungodly that "There are consequences for your actions", I know not how Christians would say that personally but "God's wrath is against the sinner."

Just my thoughts, what are yours?

God bless

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT ANTHROPROPATHISMS. Attributing human characteristics to God. There is a sense in which this is appropriate because he designed us with emotions in order to understand him better.

Uncontrolled anger/emotion is not a characteristic of God.

It is true that we are in an age of grace and Jesus died on the cross to reconcile the world to himself.

Ultimately people will go to hell because they did not want to dwell with God on His terms but on their own terms.

The time will come when he who restrains(God's anger for want of a better word) will be taken out of the way and God will resolve outstanding issues with his rebellious creation. God set up the various laws of the universe including gravity and the fact that rebellion(sin) brings judgement.

Utimately this tension(his anger?) will be assuaged. God's patience and forebearance is limited.

I wouldn't call it angry; I would say he is a righteous judge. I believe anger is more of a human characteristic. But I do believe people just think about God's grace, and don't remember his just power he showed in the old testament.

The Bible says God gets angry, The Bible says God never changes. If you love someone, you get angry at them from time to time, the opposite of love isn't hate but indifference.

Yes, I would think the Lord still gets angry. Either way, he will still punish us, for our own good, when we need to be punished.

John 3:36
He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

I do know we can suffer the wrath of God. But I dont know if he gets angry at his children, and I really do not want to find out.
I have known times that he was very firm and disaplining me. But even in this I felt his infinite love.

I didn't know mark was in the Old testament, and about all the wrath/anger poured out in rev, let's see He is the same as yesterday, today, and tomorrow, He got angry yesterday He will get mad tomorrow, but , But no we can't preach that a loving God would get angry at someone killing Babies that would make us a conservative

Mr 3:1And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand.Mr 3:2And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.Mr 3:3And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.Mr 3:4And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.Mr 3:5And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

Does get angry? Absolutely. However, why would God lash out in His anger when He tells us not to? He doesn't. God is patient and doesn't feel threatened in any way by the mistakes made by man's free will. He is not one to impose His will on anyone, that is until mankind places God in a position to have to defend His holy and righteous character.

I find it interesting that some think God's anger is never against Christians.

First, to my understanding, that verse about "if you were not getting discipline, you would not be sons. God is treating you as Sons. Count the discipline as your salvation."

Now, while it is possible that this is JUST referring to stuff like Paul was talking about like disciplining/training yourself to win the race of life through Christ; I personally think the straight forward answer is that this discipline is referring to Christians who sin--meaning that when a Christian sins, God's discipline is shown because he cares PERSONALLY if his CHILDREN are getting lost in darkness...while those who are in the dark still, do not have to worry about this sort of discipline, as God's law is not an alliance in their lives...

So, does a parent get mad when He/she disciplines their children?!? I think the answer to this is a resounding yes...with earthly parents just as with God himself....its as if the parent, gets furious and is screaming that age-old maxim "I brought you up better than this!!!" And personally, I think God does get angry everytime his children stray from him, though still, for the time being, also showing mercy in his righteous judgments against all sinners...

He was mad when he called people snakes. Some were evil then just as today. The rath of God isn't cause he's all happy with everyone. Mainly he gets hurt by all the wrongs.

Isaiah is pretty clear -- God gets angry. Towards His chosen and those who don't know Him. It is a righteous and soveriegn anger -- one we cannot fully explain. God has a tender Heart, He wants to bless us. Sometimes His blessings aren't as sweet as we hoped they were. His whole purpose of doing things the way He does is to bring good. His good is not our own, it is hard to contemplate. But if you ask God to search your heart -- He will show what is in there and why. Just my point -- He loved Job -- but he did have anger towards his unbelief and pride.
