This is the biggest dissappointment, the most messed-up rendition of scripture that has even met the silver screen!!
~Nowhere are the people that chastize Noah for his building of the arc;
~Noah and his family are almost hermetic in their existance of solitude;
~Noah never prays, but rather shouts at God to answer his questions;
~The whole scenario of God destroying the earth is given to Noah in a dream rather than God actually speaking to him.
~All of his sons are mere children at the building; NONE are married at the launch;
~there is a stowaway enemy aboard when the 'ship sails'.
~transformer-type rock monsters that talk are angels....'watchers' with ability to help or not help mankind;
~Noah is hell-bent on destroying humanity, to the point of murdering his own granddaughters.

The list goes on.

Don't waste your money unless you like TRUE 'LITERARY LICENSE' to be your version of entertainment for the evening.

I want to see it but it sounds like a real hack job on the bible. So I don't know if I will pay to see it.

I heard the main reason for the flood, in the movie, was a an ecological one not violence and immorality.

Hollywood never seems to fail at putting their twists on things.

I've also heard that he personally stated "I tried to make the most un-biblical movie possible". From what I've read in the reviews, he's made the top 10 at least.

I've read some of the plot and story changes that were made for the movie, and I am actually quite surprised. During its development and trailers I thought this was going to be a cheap rework of the story especially after that whole "True to the Spirit of Biblical Story" tag came out. Now that I know more about the movie I can see what the creative team was going for and why it has to take on the names of the characters in the bible. I hope that the message gets around fast that it isn't supposed to remotely be like the bible story, because I don't think that is what is supposed to be assumed going into the film.

As for the whole "True to the Spirit of the Biblical Story", Darren Aronofsky (the director) was not happy with that being used by the people promoting the movie. He had been very upfront with it not following the biblical story for a long time, and I don't think he wanted there to be any confusion about what he was doing.

Perhaps then,, they should never had named it 'Noah'.

Totally agree! Can you even imagine if they made a movie about Mohammed and the Koran and then butchered their verses? The entire Muslim world would be in an uproar over even showing a depiction of Mohammed, let alone twisting their doctrine. Such a movie would not even get off the ground, but they can take something from the Bible and completely butcher it and it is ok.

I think the scariest thing here is there's a ridiculous amount of people who claim to identify with Christianity yet know next to nothing about the Word of God. This would be bigger if it appalled more people but I think too many people complacent in their concept of faith are just going to be content to enjoy, trust, and praise films like these.

There is currently a movie that is going to focus on Mohammad in the works that should be released in 2015. I can't really say how it is going to be handled.

Besides, Noah is also an important prophet in Islam too. So I don't really think this has anything to do with people being hard on one religion and soft on another.

Getting mad at an atheist adding to the bible with his distorted visions is a good start. Can we please now get just as upset over the millions of false prophets doing the same thing in Gods name whom are also adding to the bible with their false visions?

Just curiously thinking, I wonder what kind of butcher job Hollywood would do on a movie covering the Destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah?

The sodomites would be replaced by Christians, and God would be punishing them for their "hate".

This movie is from satan. They want you to think people were unconscious thinkers and that voice of God is coming from their own mind. THIS IS WHAT IS BEING TAUGHT BY THE DEVIL HIMSELF.

When I first saw this movie coming out I really wanted to see it. After reading the previous posts......not so much. Even if one could keep in mind that it isn't biblical, I think it would cause confusion. There is enough of that in the world. I did see that it did very well when it was released. Figures.

That's a bit of a stretch don't you think? What's your evidence? Personally I think you are just ranting.

And by the way, welcome to the forum. :)
