So lately I have been reading mere Christianity by c.s Lewis and it has gotten me thinking. Why all the division? Why can we not lay down our pride and stand together on the truths of the bible? There's no need for this division! Instead a non Christian looks in and sees a bunch of arguing (not so much on here but between denominations in general) and an unwillingness to get over pride and small differences, and i would not be surprised if its not a big part of the reason they don't want any part of it. We preach love grace peace humility forgiveness kindness etc.. but more times than not we fail to show it, so what I'm saying is why not unite because we can agree on the bible, agree to disagree on little things and let gods grace transform us and makes us welcoming to everyone? Just an idea. But is really like to see these divisions broke down and more community established in the church. I live in a city of 7000 that has about 30 churches. One catholic one Mormon one jehovahs witness but the rest are mostly non denominational or at least protestant of some form to me there is no need for such division. But let me know what you guys think! Anybody else like to see more unity in the church?

I despair of unity in the church. Just on cc we have many who are insisting that if the bible speaks of law, it isn't scripture. It isn't a small thing to say we cannot depend on all the words of the bible.

Our churches are to be sanctified, we are not to let immorality be part of them, yet we say we must open our arms with love to immoral people even when they insist on keeping their immorality. That isn't a small thing. If we would refuse to forgive and accept them back, that would be wrong, but we pretend they are moral.

I agree, we must be able to overlook and accept differences. We are to go along with what they believe in and not squabble. I love the saying "don't sweat the small stuff" that says it in our everyday language. But there are limits, and some go over the limits of "small stuff". Feasts, Saturday or Sunday, lipstick, to allow a trumpet in church or decide against it, there are many small things. But allowing immorality in the church, and deciding what is scripture in the bible and what isn't is NOT small stuff.

I was talking more of the smaller things here. The bible is scripture and immorality is unacceptable but if we follow gods word these shouldn't be issues. But topics of music, dress code. Day of worship (although I believe in an observing of the Sabbath) and various other little differences should not spring up whole different churches.
