I hear this occasionally from people and quite honestly it causes me to recoil somewhat. It seems to me that God has told us everything thru His word and thru Christ. Someone saying that they received revelation from Christ has given rise to many cult figures and has caused much damage to Christianity. Am I saying that you cannot receive revelation from God?...no but I think one should be cautious when claiming it. Thoughts?

Some people abuse the phrase, but the Spirit does 'reveal' truth to us, in both the Scriptures and in the natural world.

I am rather conservative, but there have certainly been many times when I knew that God had been telling me something:
either a warning, rebuke, encouragement, or just giving a new perspective on a situation or passage of Scripture.

@sirk, be blessed and I agree with you also, and there is no direct scripture that would back-it-up. But some people talk rather figuratively, or they talk through the flowers some would say, meaning they are not lying or telling fairy tails? I would not take a statement like that all too heavily, just lose talk. But again, if one really does insist when confronted, then we could have a problem, and it would be a problem, as I have witnessed meetings of the Spirits so to say. And I can only say beware, and pray allot, before and during and after the meetings of the Spirits, There are many spirits in this world and not all are of God, or even good minded spirits for that matter. But before I get off far too deep into such a short statement I will say only that we all should be blessed and ask why not?

I have received things like a person coming into my mind and that I should pray for them or even apologize to them for something...lol. I have also heard from people things like "God told me I'm supposed to be in ministry" or things along those lines. It just gives the impression when someone says "God told me" that it is the final word and cannot be disputed or explored.

Sirk God ever told you something? If not why not. If He did what was it? Is God SILENT today?

What about the voice we will hear behind us sayin ...This is the way when we want to wonder off to the right or to the left?...

Is that VOICE we wil lhear with our EARS still available and who is that speaking to us to keep us on the narrow Way?

Just wondering if you beleive this...

Isa 30:20 And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:
Isa 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

I've heard a guy tell a girl that God told him that they would get married.
So she dated him.
They broke up a couple weeks later.

Sad, abuse.

This is my opinion so take it for what it is.... In the Old Testament He spoke thru the prophets, in the new thru the apostles and today he speaks thru the lives of believers. We are to hide his word in his heart, love and live our lives as tho Christ is living thru us.

Sirk God spoke to prophets and people ALL the time righte through the Bible. God says NO prophecy is of man.... We know this. But look how JEsus spoke to Paul and to Ananias and to Peter ALL AFTER HE HAD RISEN....

What I ask you is... Did God ever speak to you, if not WHY NOT? What would stop God from speaking to you like he did to all the people right through the ages. God does not change, and if He is silent now then HE DID CHANGE...

Do you believe that the VOICE behind you will keep you on the Narrow Way? VOICE BEHING AND EARS HEARING... Who is that voice?

well sure He speaks to me but I have never audibly heard His voice and it is typically words straight out of scripture or things concerning me, my behavior or bringing to mind a person I should reach out to or pray for. I just think it dangerous to make mighty proclamations in regard to hearing the " voice" of God.

God never told anyone anything contrary to what He has revealed about Himself through the law, the prophets, the psalms and through Christ & His apostles.

I am rather conservative, but there have certainly been many times when I knew that God had been telling me something:
either a warning, rebuke, encouragement, or just giving a new perspective on a situation or passage of Scripture.
Just to add to that, there have been VERY FEW God has actually talked to, verbally communicated with...

Gen 17:1 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.
Gen 17:2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly.
Gen 17:3 And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying,
Gen 17:4 As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

Num 12:4 And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.
Num 12:5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.
Num 12:6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
Num 12:7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.
Num 12:8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?

Adam and Eve, Abraham, Moses and a few other very select people throughout history. Today, God reveals Himself to us by His written word and the leading of the Holy Spirit...

Joh 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

I must ask myself, 'does God, through the Holy Spirit, live in us'?
Does He 'comfort' us with words or feelings?
If words, are they only based on Scripture or a new 'revelation'?
If a new revelation, how can I test it with Scripture?
I conclude God speaks; satan also speaks to us...
God according to His Word, satan against or in addition to God's Word.

Hearing the voice of God would likely be an earth-shattering, life-altering event, but people often misrepresent the movement and 'nudging' of the Holy Spirit and instead say "God told me ________ ."

"God Told Me"...

Thats great! did you get conformation it was from God? If it was from God, did God then tell you to broadcast it on the internet?

Quite often we will be shown and told things, but most times it is just ment for us, telling same thing to another person will not work and may even create problems.

Crossnote what will the two WITNESSES say against the Gays (Sodom) and the Greedy (unGodly Egypt) when they stand and PROPHECY what God wants them to say? And look they are dressed as John the Baptist was. Sackcloth, TODAY in modern times? WOW!

Can you give me the Scripture they will prohecy? And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

It is quite a long time that they will prophecy so it cannot be one or two prohecies, it will be VERY repetitive then...

Then they will be killed but on the third day God will give them life again..... Wonder what they will say that will make people MURDER them....

All these CLEVER teachers here WHO IS THIS VOICE?...Isa 30:21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

I won't deny there will be two prophets in the future, He says so in His Word.

Not for nothing, but Jesus spent over three years teaching ONE SIMPLE MESSAGE.........and people still didn't get it......

And, since then, that same simple message has been preached for over 2,000 years............AND PEOPLE STILL DON'T GET IT.

(kinda makes ya wonder don't it?)
