So this is a thread from another perspective on God speaking now. So you say the written word is better than everything God ever did to communicate? It is the perfect and the in part was done away with? Hypocrite are you waiting for the next book? Of corse God is not reverting to in part. Books trump actually speaking to you so God will give you books forever, right? If its perfect why not? But I thought in eternity Jesus would talk to me personally? No you say you dont need that now cause its all in the book. Why would you ever need it? Doesnt your God perfer books over everything? No reason to really talk to you if theres a book, right.

God is not a God that would lie, If He is talking to you and the things He is saying is contrary to the bible, then it's not God talking to you- And that right there is why I believe He gave us the bible. The enemy can talk to us and make us believe he is God but if what He saying is not in standing with the bible then we can be sure it's not God.

Numbers 23:19 "God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind."

None of what you posted makes a lick of sense.

It's the Holy Spirit that intercedes for us and guides us.....and our relationship with God is highly personal. The problem I see with receiving "revelation" from God in our current circumstance is that anyone can claim it. God does not test us.....satan does.

I' m not against the Bible but I am for God speaking to people. The Bible is not God's gennie lamp that binds him from being able to speak or if it doesnt stop him from speaking do you believe he perfers books? Why can't he speak?

PSALM 29

Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength.
Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name;
worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

The voice of the LORD is upon the waters:
the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters.

The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
The voice of the LORD breaketh the cedars; yea, the LORD breaketh the cedars of Lebanon.
He maketh them also to skip like a calf; Lebanon and Sirion like a young unicorn.

The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire.
The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness; the LORD shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.

The voice of the LORD maketh the hinds to calve, and discovereth the forests:
and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever.
The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace.

Isn't heaven or eternity supposed to be perfect? But thats when you believe Jesus will really talk to you personally? Then how can you say the written word is that which is perfect? Is that which is perfect a book or hearing from God personally? If you pick book then why is Jesus ever going back to speaking to people? Either heaven is not perfect because its not written word only or you will recieve another Bible, right?

Written word only cannot be "that which is perfect" because we will speak with God face to face and that my friend is " that ehich is perfect". Then and only then will the gifts cease.

It's not about picking a book. I'd rather have the bible than any other book on earth. I personally believe that we hear God through His word. The more that we read and study, the more quickly we can hear when someone is speaking the truth and when someone is speaking false things.

Remember what Jesus said, "Seek, knock and ask." When you do this seeking Him sincerely, watch what happens.

Don't let yourself get frustrated. If there's something that you want to understand. Search it out in the word prayerfully. Practice patients.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Proverbs 3:6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

I've met a few who speak against studying the word, and in almost everything they say regarding scripture, they are wayyy off. How can a person be on target scripturally if they reject it to begin with?

Stay in the word.

That's a great passage your speaking of Jonathanbchristian,

It's speaking of maturity in Christ.

1 Corinthians 13:9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
1 Corinthians 13:10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Here are a few more verses for you to consider:

2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

Faith and faithfulness go hand and hand.

Like I said, I am not against the Bible. I am against the idea we dont need to hear from God personally. If thats the case then maybe you need a Bible for eternity and never hear Him speak. Perfect is God speaking more not less. The gifts go away not with written word only but with face to face speaking to God. We shouldnt want to hear Him less. If a book is all you need to hear Him then why should He ever speak to you in heaven?

So if we are mature God will no longer speak to us? When will we be so perfect that we dont need a word of wisdom or knowledge from God? It will not end that God speaks; it will continue face to face. Yoy dont need a radio (prophet) if you are at the event.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. There is not verse that says that God won't speak to us when are mature in Him.

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face:now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

It says that 'for now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face;"

I believe that this is talking about the mysteries in Christ.

There's one point where Jesus tells the disciples that "HE has much to tell them, but they can not yet bear it."

For me, as I am still maturing, I know that there are things I've prayed about at a time when I wasn't ready to receive it. Yet, as I continue to press on, I'm able to understand more of what Christ has for us. It's a process.

I fully believe that this is why Jesus said, ...If you continue in My word, you are my disciples indeed and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

Ephesians 3:14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Ephesians 3:15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
Ephesians 3:17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
Ephesians 3:18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
Ephesians 3:19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Keep seeking, keep asking keep knocking, and continue in the word praying for understanding that comes only from HIM.

Love never fails. As for prophecies, they will be brought to an end. As for tongues, they will stop. As for knowledge, it will be brought to an end.

1 Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails. As for prophecies, they will be brought to an end. As for tongues, they will stop. As for knowledge, it will be brought to an end.

Love never fails, the Love of Christ never fails, and His love shed abroad in our hearts....never fails.

When we know, even as we are known, there wouldn't be need of prophecies, tongues...etc...

Is this thread about hurling critical labels at people like "hypocrite"? If it is about how God communicates with us, it is a backward way of going about it. Our God is a God of spirit and truth, I don't think God is into preferring one method of reaching us to another. That is for people absorbed in fleshly thinking. What happens when Christians read the word is spiritual.

If God is speaking to us through the Bible only how come we are all hearing different things? Is that perfect? Iagree words from the Lord should fit the Bible in fact God uses such things as word of wisdom or knowledge to clearify the Scripture often by quoting it and giving reason. I would say many pentecostals familiar with the gifts can say thats how it often goes. No we don't all have classes on how to do this that's considered wrong by most pentecostals contrary to popular belief. Everyones so gung ho about messages from God being wrong that even on CC. I have posted some messages from the Lord that quoted Scripture and some uneducated posters even commented that the Scripture quoted was demonic. They didn't know the voice of the Lord when it was a direct quote; they just assume its all demonic. They didnt know it was a Scripture because I didnt give a reference but come on calling that part demonic?
