Regarding art, I don't want to paint a broad stroke (pun intended), but it's meant to fall on whoever it applies to: art, especially the performing arts, tends to make people lean so far into self that they can seem unrecoverable or irretrievable. I hate to call myself an artist, because my dad is one (professor of Fine Arts), and he relishes hating God and His Creation; but I do some art: drawing, fashion, fragrance, interior and other design, 'chefistry', etc. Art is fun, but it's scary to see the artists (which falls under everyone who 'creates something': architects, musicians, chefs, fashion designers, etc.) worship themselves or be worshiped. I used to work at Rooms to Go furniture showrooms, and this designer came in for a few weeks to shuffle things around. I was trying to help her put things together; when she realized that I knew a few things, she decided she didn't need my help since she had a degree in interior decoration and I didn't. But then everyone is territorial about their work, not just artists. Worship leaders can and often do fall into the art trap: "Look at me! It's all about me!"
I recently knew a guy who wanted to be a rock star in the world; he didn't make it, so now in the church, he wants to be a worship leader. His need to have groupies who worship him never left, and he walks around under the guidance of spirits posing as the Holy Spirit who tell him to do things that make him appear super spiritual, super important, and super special and get ignorant people to worship and fawn after him. There's some art for you. As far as I've seen, the arts are a pretty dangerous area if you want to avoid self-glory. It can of course be done, but when people applaud your creation, self-glory just tends to creep on a person before they know it.
