Does God help those who help themselves or does he ever just help people? My friends have secluded me, I struggle with anxiety, and my heart is very broken right now. Meeting new people is so hard. Is God holding back on me because I'm I not doing something right?
Things I have done:
-started an art class to meet new ppl
-been going to school and work (on Saturdays)
-I've prayed for friends
-People have prayed for me to meet new friends
-I have been attending church which is SO hard for me.
I'm so lonely
I'm not a horrible person to be around!!

I know what it is like to struggle with anxiety. It makes every situation seem overwhelming and we always tend to assume other people don't like us.

However, lasting friendship are hard enough to find even without anxiety. Many long lasting friendships I have lost due to them getting married or moving. It is very tough, I will certainly admit.

But it is good that you are putting yourself out there. I find anxiety and depression can be worse if we stay too isolated and at home all the time. When you go out to do things it just can naturally make you feel better.

Often times just driving in the car and listening to music helps me a ton!

when I feel the greatest amount of anxiety, I usually goto my room and listen to Christian music and pray. I ask God to take away the feelings I have and every time God helps me and gives me grace. A peace comes over me that I can't explain and the anxiety flees.

You sound so like me. How do you live in isolation? God designed us for a world of family, of sharing, of love, and we live in a world of individuals doing their own thing. How do we cope?

I think we cope by learning all we can of the world God designed us for, and making that our world as much as we can. We cannot control others to be part of our world, our Lord does not control people. God gives each of us free will. So when we pray to God to make other people be our friends, we are asking for something not in the way of the Lord. We can control ourselves to be what God created us for. We can watch others to see ways we can support them.

We have God supporting us, we are the lucky ones.

We are told that in these last days the demons will take over. We are told to hold fast to the Lord and persevere. This is part of it. If demons had not interfered we could live with love expressed for each other, no one would be alone.

We can, even in these last days, put on the armor of the Lord, give our love to others, and be content.

God is not holding you back. I understand full well the pain of a broken heart. I am positive that you are not a horrible person to be around. God helps both those who help themselves and those who simply wait. This has been my experience.

New plan - go to your profile section and click on your activity. Click on any item that contains the term "Does God". These threads are constantly moving with the flow and can be difficult to track. This method, to me is the easiest.

We tend to get our identity from work, friends, sports activities spouses or significant others etc etc. Scour Gods word for things that speak to your identity in Christ. We all strive for significance, even after God has told us we are significant to Him. Claim your identity in Christ. :)

Prayers for you Megan. Prayers that you find calm and peace in the love of God. Know that God doesn't want his children to be alone or lonely. When you feel anxious please, turn to your Bible. You should have a really good concordance so you can look up scripture that deals with certain feelings your having at the time. Write them down. Say them out loud.

God helps those who love him and seek earnestly to be with Him and know Him. We must depend on God. This doesn't mean we sit at home and do nothing but that we do what we can and let God do the rest.

Lord God,
Please smile down on this child of yours, hold her so tight she can never doubt Your presence. Let her know she is loved and protected by you. Send friends her way to help guide her. I pray this in the mighty name of your son, Jesus Christ.
