I came to Christ 5 1/2 years ago and my hunger to know the Word of God only grows stronger. I love God, love my church and the people in it and want only to fulfill God's purpose and will for my life. I have been thinking a lot lately about becoming a Chaplain. Not a minister or pastor but a chaplain. In a hospital, school, or even a women's prison.
I have been out of work for over a year, I'm 53 and am realizing that job searching and sending out resumes for hours every day isn't working. What I would much rather be doing is studying God's Word and passing this knowledge onto others. I put in a lot of hours at my church each week and love it. I also have experience teaching disabled adults and those who were eager to know the Lord were the clients I helped the most.
Does anyone here have experience in this field? Does anyone here know anything about the schooling, job market, future outlook? I'm not just looking for a paycheck, I'm hoping to follow my passion and therefore never have to 'work' again.
Thank you for your help,
