‘But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.’ (Matthew 6: 33)

An American pastor and author Francis Chan uses a piece of rope as an illustration. He holds a piece that stretches the length of a stage and points to the very end which is painted red. The majority of the rope is white and he asks us to imagine this represents eternity. The red part represents our lifetime on earth. The red part is insignificant compared to the white. He suggests that too many of us focus on the small red part of the rope. When there is a lifetime of white awaiting us.

Most stuff here comes and goes. And where we invest our time, money and energy has a lot to do with that. Using your resources to bless others is going to have a lasting effect in their lives. Now, we aren’t dead set on having a dig at your shopping habits…. But holding back on your next pair of impulse-buy shoes will.

Frankly, leave more room to give generously. Asking ‘where else could this go?’ Can apply to anything: time spent watching TV, scrolling through Facebook; whatever, any ‘non-necessities’. We all need rest. We all need chill-space. But sometimes it helps to toughen up on our habits.

It leaves that space open for us to pray about where we can invest.

‘What areas of your life do you need to reassess in view of eternity? It’s helpful to keep this question in mind, at least some of the time: when you’re about to impulse-buy, spend an afternoon in front of Netflix, or on Facebook, ask yourself ‘where else could this go?’

This is a profound question with endless possibilities. The above examples will probably lead to nowhere and that is the best case scenario.

Well we weren't taught the truth for one thing. And I dont mean all to do with religion or faiths or beliefs, I mean In general. and looking back now, I was taught only things that scientist only thought of, and not facts. Yes they say this will work or that will work. but for the moment. Then later on down in life, you hear about the scientist that discoverered something that worked, Doesn't really work. we are a generation of guinipigs. So really we were taught lies through trial and errors.

And I don't all mean about scientists. I meant in life in genreal. we were or are taught something that based on thoery. that only works for a shot time, untill we are told something different.

However with God, its a different matter. What God has told us and is telling us, is truth. But its us people thats gets it wrong. So in that content, we are taught by people that don't really know. so we are no wiser.

If God prompts me to give money to causes I will, otherwise I will just spend it on what I like, I earned it, God gets his share and thank you. There is nothing wrong with impulse spending. Abuse your wealth and God can and does take it away. I know this first hand.
