My teacher said today that prayer is for finding rest in yourself. Gods 'just' listening. Whats your opinion on that?

Sometimes God's answer is yes. We all recognize this one and are thrilled but there are two more possibilities...

Sometimes the answer is no. Bang, the door is slammed in our face.

Now for the hardest one of all, sometimes the answer is wait.

One question that popped my mind, say your not a Christian can God hear your prayers. Dave, was saying that one reason could be your not saved.

Absolutely. It can be seen many ways. GOD gave ME and I show YOU everything or I show YOU everything not necessarily as the first I show you(the reader) everything but I show YOU(representing a thing not a person)everything= (the thing)YOU is everything. I unveil YOU for your understanding.
I agree for sure as God has been using imperfect men to preach his perfect message since the fall of man.....!

I think someone else may have posted this as well, but it bears repeating. Prayer was never intended to inform God of things He doesn't know. The point of prayer is not merely to get what we want but to nurture our relationship with God. As a result prayer can change us rather than the situation, reinforcing our confidence in our God's sufficiency and realigning our will with His. At the same time God invites us to involve ourselves in His work by praying.
Ms. Nancyer:

I think the emphasis with prayer is more to express our dependence on the Lord, rather than to inform Someone omniscient of facts, right?

Blessings.
