Babylon is in centered in Rome. It has been around since the first babylon was destroyed. It is not the US, The US looks nothing like babylon. Nor does the US have any of its characteristics.
Fire is a symbolic term of judgment. It may be literal, it may not.

I believe it occurs after they return from destroying the U.S. (as the daughter of BABYLON) and are pulled into the Muslim/Jewish conflict that the Muslims cannot win....Notice the bolded above...God TURNS them BACK from something and DRAGS them (hooks into their jaws) into the conflict with Israel...

While I totally agree that America is about as close to Babylon (as far as wallowing in sin) as a country can get, this scripture, imo, does not have anything to do with America (though our judgment, as a nation, will be fierce). I don't understand how anyone, that reads the bible as much as I think y'all do, can read this list of cargo and not see biblical significance.

Who is the "ruler of this world" to which Jesus refers? Did he not say "now" the "ruler of this world will be cast out"? From where was he cast out? Where was he sent?

Babylon in scripture speaks of paganism, Babylon was the start of paganism, When she was destroyed, her practices and priests were spread throughout the world.
Whenever you see the word babylon or harlot in the OT, it speaks of pagan practices and ritual. We should not interpret it any other way.

The US does not spill the blood of saints. Never has
The US does not have reign over the kings (great) of the earth. (she may have influence, But she has never had power to reign over them)
The fornication (in scripture) speaks of worshiping her Gods. This does not apply to the US.

Babylon is paganisn. Everyone in the NT would have known what it meant. To interpret it some other way is to interpret it different than anyone in the NT who it was written to would interpret it.
