Yes, I fully agree that water baptism IS IMPORTANT for every new believer...........BUT it is NOT what cleanses us of our sin, or gives us salvation.

People who preach Acts 2:38 almost ALWAYS leave out "REPENT..........." Why? Well because that doesn't fit their ideology.

It us upon repentance that the precious blood of Jesus shed on Calvary's Cross is applied cleansing us of our sins. This conversion is a SPIRITUAL event. Man (with his eyes) cannot SEE this Spiritual change in a new believers life/heart/spirit.

Thus water baptism is important, for it SERVES as a declaration by the new believer to the Church and to the world that they have become a believer in and follower of Jesus Christ...........it is a symbolic "work" (and should be the first work after salvation) of the Spiritual conversion of a new believer. This is why it is very important. Jesus said to do it, and Jesus said HOW to do it........either we obey His Commandment, or we don't..........choice is (as always) ours.

Our Spiritual burial with Jesus and our Spiritual resurrection with Jesus CANNOT be seen with the human eye........thus water baptism becomes the "visible" symbol of this event.

God bless
Very good!

does it not say to be baptized in jesus name for the remmision of sin. it says those exact words in mine..
You forgot the word repent there my friend.

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

10. Water Baptism

Water baptism by immersion after repentance pictures the forgiveness of sin, the burial of the old man and the beginning of a new life in Christ. Through prayer and the laying on of hands following baptism, repentant believers receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and become part of the spiritual Body of Jesus Christ. By yielding to and being led by the Holy Spirit, those who have repented and been baptized experience a true change in life, attitude and way of thinking.

Scriptural support: John 3:23; Acts 2:38; 8:14-17; 19:5-6; Ephesians 4:22-24; 1 Corinthians 12:13

Yes, I fully agree that water baptism IS IMPORTANT for every new believer...........BUT it is NOT what cleanses us of our sin, or gives us salvation.
that is not the point

not killing people does not give us salvation either

paying tithe doesnt give us salvation

helping the poor does not give us salvation

staing faithful does not give us salvation

if you love God you will be baptised

because you love to do what he says

if you have been shown in the Bible where Jesus says that we should get baptised,
and dont do it
you really dont love Jesus the word of God with all your heart...

if you read you should do the commandments but some ma says you dont need to anymore then you really dont love the word above the man do you?

john says the same thing

1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
1 John 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

get it? think of a newly wed bride

new husband says i like ladies in blue dresses

bride in love: (im going to the store)
bride not in love: I dont like blue!

it is THAT SIMPLE

you are in love or you are not!

get it?

get it?
its about love

it is that simple

so it really wont matter what you do anyway

you arent goig to be saved if you are not in love with God

need to get born again spend time with Jesus and the word of god

until your greatest desire is to get baptisd

not getting baptised just means you ahve not arrived to the love required to make it

wow dude the Lord Jesus Christ baptizes with the holy spirit. do not be deceived.

John 3:7

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7"Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' 8"The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit
The eunuch was water baptized, the one baptism of Eph 4:5 and the baptism of Jn 3:5 and not baptized with the Holy Spirit.

There, much better..........now we have REPENT included.......and not edited out..........GOOD!

See.........REPENT........and be baptized FOR THE REMISSION OF SIN

Why is one being baptized?

1) Because when they repented the precious blood of Jesus Christ cleansed them of their sin.......thus their sin was remitted?

2) To cleanse them of their sin?

One of these options confesses the precious blood of Jesus Christ, one does not.......choice is ours..........

It's not a "given," it's a REQUIREMENT for salvation............:) just saying........without repentance the precious blood of Jesus Christ is NOT applied.........no matter how many times one is water baptized........

OH one more point

in the parable I gave earlier:

v think of a newly wed bride

new husband says i like ladies in blue dresses

bride in love: (im going to the store)
bride not in love: I dont like blue!

it is THAT SIMPLE

you are in love or you are not!

get it?

get it?
its about love

if you were to go up to the bride that said I DONT LIKE BLUE!

and you told her
you know, you really dont love your husband do you?

she would SLAP YOUR FACE!

why?

because she knows that she really doesnt love her husband!

that is what happens when you quote John chapter one to people who break the commandments

they rip you apart for saying they dont love God

but

they really dont love God...

or they would do the commandments

thats what JOHN says

Consider this:

Repent and jump for joy for the remission of sin.............

Why is one jumping for joy?

1) Because when they repented their sin was remitted?

2) To have their sin remitted?

No.........but a common teaching among some.......sigh........

the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ is APPLIED upon repentance.........this is the SPIRITUAL BAPTISM...........not water baptism.....but a lot of folks get this confused........even John the Baptist understood this though, for he said as much.

I was impressed to say one more thing

1 Ki 1:4 And the damsel was very fair, and cherished the king, and ministered to him: but the king knew her not.

this is a word that means have intimate relationship with

to know someone
to be intimate

so

people can say they are religious
they can say they are saved
they can say anything they want

but unless you have an intimate one on one married relationship
giving everything you have to God

you cant say you know him

to know him

to have a one on one relationship with him

to know God
to have an intimate one on one relationship with God

a newly wed couple in love
when a man asks his wife something

the answer is

anything you want dear

that is knowing him

so the people that do not give EVERYTHING to God and INTINATLEY know him
breath him
speak him
dwell with him

do not know him

Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me,
Lord, Lord, (hussband husband)
shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my father which is in heaven.

Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day,
Lord, Lord,
have we not prophesied in thy name?
and in thy name have cast out devils?
and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you:
(Never had an intimate relationship with him)
(never gave him everything)

depart from me,
ye that work iniquity.
(ye that do your own thing)

(Ye that worship the way YOU want)
(Ye that listen to men above God)

Mat 7:24 Therefore
whosoever heareth these sayings of mine,
and doeth them,

I will liken him unto a wise man,
which built his house upon a rock:

Mat 7:25 And the rain descended,
and the floods came, and the winds blew,
and beat upon that house;
and it fell not:
for it was founded upon a rock.

Mat 7:26 And every one that heareth
these sayings of mine,
and doeth them not,
shall be likened unto a foolish man,

which built his house upon the sand:
Mat 7:27 And the rain descended,
and the floods came,
and the winds blew,
and beat upon that house;
and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

QUOTE: true so why after mathew 28 why is there no record of a baptism done in the name of the father son and holy spirit after thats what he told them to do. END QUOTE..........

Good question........it is like the question........"why is there no record of the 11 disciples being water baptized?"

Now, for me personally, I go with "In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.........." as does my church...........but if someone else says "in the name of Jesus," that's fine with me...........the important thing is to be obedient to His Commandment in my opinion. Way I see it is if we go with what Jesus taught........we are in good stead with Jesus, and isn't that what really counts?

Something else to ponder is the wording from Matthew................(FYI only, not doctrine)

In the NAME of the Father, and OF the Son, and OF the Holy Ghost.............

notice a difference? Baptized in the NAME of the Father........baptized OF the Son.......baptized OF the Holy Ghost.....

Is this worthy of consideration? Maybe.......... :)

Scripture does not say that baptism in water is for the remission of sins . Calling on the Lord in faith for salvation will bring remission of sins. Yes, the baptism of Mt 28 must be water, for as you say, humans cannot spirit baptize.

Alligator, how do you know which it is when water is not mentioned? Since works cannot save, if baptism is salvific, that baptism cannot be water baptism, a human work.

I wouldn't call water baptism a "work", I call it obeying the gospel. The gospel is Jesus, whom is God manifested in the flesh, took on flesh so as to become a sacrifice, atoning for sin in our stead.

1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

The core of the gospel is that He died, was buried and raised himself from the dead (John 10:18), thus having overcome death and the grave. Now, to receive unto our selves what he has done for us, is to obey the gospel. That is to obey the death, burial, and resurrection.

Jesus said that we must be born again to enter the kingdom. Let's turn to John chapter three...

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
[4] Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
[5] Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Born again is of water and spirit. And, without this we cannot enter the kingdom. In fact, the book of Acts will cross reference this in chapter two...

[37] Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

If we are to obey the gospel, we would have to symbolize the death, burial, and resurrection. And, that is what Peter said to do...

1. Death = repent
2. Burial = water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins
3. Resurrection = receive Holy Spirit

Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
[5] For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Again, this is NOT a "work", it is obeying the gospel.

God bless!
