Why is “repentenc” necessary?Consider what the Holy Bible teaches us about the need for repentence.

Matthew 10:32) Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.
33 .) But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Luke 12:8) Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God:
9 .) But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
The first word Jesus preached in public was “repent”………..
Matthew 4:17) From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Look at what is said in Acts 4:16) Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
17 .) Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
18 .) When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
And again in Acts 20:20) And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,
21 .) Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.
So, in Acts 2:38, when Peter said:“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
He was well in line with the teaching of Jesus…….
This is not a new concept/teaching…….consider Proverbs 28:13) He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

John taught this as well……consider 1[SUP]st[/SUP] John 1:6) If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 .) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 .) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 .) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Again, consider what Luke wrote……….Luke 15:10) Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth. And in the 13[SUP]th[/SUP] Chapter, Luke records this…..from verse 3) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
And Peter taught in Acts 3:19) Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

Human nature is all about self.

I have to love myself
I have to take care of myself
I have to take control of my life. because no one else will.
I have to save myself
I have to determine what my moral guildline is

to repent, we change our minds about all these things (which is near to impossible in the flesh) and give everything to God. in other words, if we are going to trust God to do all these things (most importantly the saving part) in faith, we have to repent.

if we do not repent, we will never trust God. without repentance, there will be no faith, without faith, there is no salvation.

Repentance is absolutely necessary for salvation, as some OP scripture points out. One isn't going to turn from sin, without being convicted of their sin: the concept of our Holy God versus sin, its problem and need for remedy, is the dilemma of the entire Bible, since Adam and Eve sinned, since Cain slew Abel, rebellious Israel, on and on. One doesn't believe in God, who doesn't turn from evil, who doesn't desire a 180 degree turn. But repent is a word the devil hates, a word many "church" people hate, who love that grace, but still love their sin, repentance, if you haven't noticed, not even a part of many sermons anymore.

Luke 18:10-14 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Matthew 5:3-4 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Repentance is not atonement. Repentance is not doing good works in place of evil works. Repentance toward God is a complete change of heart and mind. It is going from a creature of darkness to a creature of light. It is a new nature created by the Holy Spirit that operates opposite of the old nature.

The new nature and the old nature constantly war with one another so a refreshing of the repentance is necessary. I my case its a very frequent refreshing.

Repentance is needed because we can not walk with God when we still are walking in the flesh.

Repentance is the direct result of believing Christ. The moment we accept what Jesus said about His righteousness we repent of our prior beliefs in self righteousness. We turn our backs on our ways and turn toward the ways of Christ to walk in paths of righteousness as He leads us.

Repentance starts us toward sanctification.

Believing Christ died for your sins does not equate with one being sorrowful for their sin or that they asked God to forgive them of their sins so as to be forgiven or saved. One needs to ask God to forgive them of their sins (with the intent that will not sin again) in order to be forgiven. For can you be unfaithful with your wife and have any hope of repairing that relationship without asking her forgiveness? Repentance is tied to the gospel of salvation. For Jesus said "repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand." Repentance is not a work because it can be easily done within seconds any time or anywhere. Repentance take no major effort on your part. Repentance is about throwing yourself down before God's mercy and trusting that He will forgive you. So it is all about trusting God will forgive you when you cry out to Him.

Why is “repentenc” necessary?Consider what the Holy Bible teaches us about the need for repentence.

Salvation is not possible without the work of repentance, Lk 13:3,5; Acts 2:38. One repents of his sins making a change in his life turning from doing wickedness-unrighteousness to doing righteousness.

Eze 33:19 "But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby."

Acts 26:20 "
But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance."

Repentance alone is not sufficient to save for one must not only repent but turn and do that which is lawful and right>do righteousness. If one does not both turn AND do righteousness then he had not repented.
