Jesus Christ, God the Son, who took upon Himself the form of man, laid down His life to establish God's Salvation Plan for ALL who believe in Him...........

I agree, I tried that one, but it was marked wrong.

Any other ideas?

Matthew 18:4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

the Publican? there are so many who "humbled" themselves before Christ and God........and surely ONE of the requirements for being considered the "greatest" would be Christian humility?

I would say the greatest man is a tie ( if you do not include Christ) between King David and Paul and Abraham. But all of them are nothing without the cross. Their (and ours) righteousness is a filthy rag. I hope you understand what a filthy rag was in biblical times.

[SUP]11 [/SUP]Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

[SUP]28 [/SUP]For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

Luke 7:28
That is true , if one thinks of himself as great the he is the least and if one thinks of himself as the least then he is the greatest. It was Jesus that gave himself and thought the least of himself. But, I would have to argue that other than Jesus, Paul thought the least of himself. He did not marry or have children, not because he was ugly and no women would have him. But, the gospel was the forefront of his mind, not caring for himself, but for others.

I think the OP is taking some sort of a test or quiz, I figure that Jesus being quoted as saying that none was greater than John the baptist is a likely source of the question he received.

Paul was after John the baptist, but at the time John the baptist was the greatest of all prophets for he announced the coming of the king and he denied himself eating locust and honey and out of style clothes.

Paul is the man that Jesus chose to found the gentile church.

Many here on CC should say Moses by the way they uphold him, but I'll go with...

But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.
(Mat 23:11)

ISAIAH 53:1-2-3-4-5-6.

Who has believed our report? and to whom is the arm of The Lord revealed?

For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a Root out of a dry ground:
He has no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see Him, there is no beauty
that we should desire Him.

He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:
and we hid as it were our faces from Him; He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.

Surely He has borne our grief, and carried our sorrow: yet we did esteem Him
stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon Him: and with His stripes we are healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way:
and The Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all........

That was the answer I needed. Thanks. There's an interesting side point there. No matter how small we are when we get to heaven, we will be greater than anything here on Earth. Some times we get a message that we don't look for. Thanks again.

I don't get it. Why is John the Baptist "the greatest in the bible" when the passage clearly says "he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he."?
