Hebrews 4 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said: “So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest,’” although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

God has a plan that has been all spelled out for us in the Scriptures. We can read the Scriptures and have hope in the promises of God. Joshua, leading God's people into the promise land, is symbolic of the coming millennial kingdom. The millennial kingdom is the other day he was referring to. If Joshua led them into the rest that God was referring to in Hebrews then why speak of another day? Because that other day is the hope of the coming kingdom. This kingdom of God, just like the seventh day of creation, is a finished work from the foundation of the world in the plan of God. In other words, you can rest in the fact that it's going to happen.

Matthew 25:34 Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Resting in the fact that what we see in the world today is not the final work of God. Putting our faith in the promise of God's coming kingdom will act as an anchor of hope to the soul and give us rest in this troubled world.

Hebrews 6:19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil.

All the people of old looked forward to the coming promise but didn't received because it was still yet a future event.

God is not doing away with the seventh day Sabbath, He is using it to help us gain hope and assurance in that, just like the seventh day is a finished work in creation, so is the coming kingdom. You can rest and have assurance that it is going to happen, just like the seventh day happens every week.

God uses the things in His creation (such as the seventh day Sabbath) to help us understand things that are not seen.

Romans 1:20 Ever since the creation of the world his eternal power and divine nature, invisible though they are, have been understood and seen through the things he has made. So they are without excuse.

The rest of Heb 4 is the Millennial reign of Jesus Christ, the fulfillment of the Sabbath.

we can enter Gods rest now. it is not for future.

How do you think Paul considered all the pain and suffering he suffered for the case of Christ as a momentary light affliction? because he had entered Gods rest.

Amen! There is rest today in the promise of God. We have rest in Christ from having to earn our way into the kingdom. We enter by faith. Even though we can enter the kingdom now, spirituality, it's still not the final kingdom. Let us use the seventh day to teach our children about the finished work of creation and they promise of the coming kingdom.

Heb 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise,
And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
Heb 4:5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

clearly the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH DAY

it REMAINS for the people of God.

see,
even if the translators and sunday keepers who didnt know any beter SAY it was for heaven
(out of the blue)

the context shows

it is still the reall sabbath day!

cant get around it

And Paul answers the SAME SUPPOSITION THEY GAVE HIM AS YOU DID that it is REST IN CHRIST and says NO
its NOT

look here

Heb 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
Heb 4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Heb 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
Heb 4:5 And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.
Heb 4:6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
Heb 4:7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
Heb 4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

In other words if the rest is meant just in Jesus and that it can be on another day

he says
no

it is still the same day
it remains the same

the sabbath day.

clear if you have faith in the word.

clearly talking about the sabbath day rest that he rested on when he created the world

anyway

Paul kept it.

all the time

want the verses

even the POPE says that sunday was invented by HIM in 321 AD
he ADMITS IT

cmon, thats the way it is sunday is not the blessed day of God and you will not be blessed on a day he did not bless

he says it remains forever

so it does

The kingdom of God is within you, now.

According to Daniel, the kingdom of God was set up at the first coming of Christ,
during the previous Roman empire, which was conquered by the Greeks.
According to Daniel, that kingdom is without end, forever.
Therefore, according to Daniel, there is no other future temporal kingdom of God.

Christ's kingdom is now, in the hearts of those where he rules and reigns.
After the resurrection, the kingdom of God will be found in the new heavens and new earth.

Matthew 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

Romans 14:17 [SUP] [/SUP]For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Is the Holy Spirit here? If the Holy Spirit is here then the Kingdom of God is here.

The Holy Spirit is the whole key to understanding The Rest that Christ gives us in Mt 11:28 and that its the same rest spoken of in Heb 4. The Holy Spirit is that rest and it was even prophesied in Ez 36.

But the carnal mind can't understand this. The carnal mind only understands work and what it can see with its carnal eyes.

Can we have Righteousness, Peace and Joy now or do we have to wait? Can the Lord Jesus give us rest now or do we have to wait? Can the Lord Jesus give us the Holy Spirit now or do we have to wait?

Let us come to Christ and experience His Goodness and Favor and Blessing.

Hebrews 4:3
For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Why is the word "rest" in Hebrews 4:9 used only once in the whole bible?

And why does it mean keeping the Sabbath?
Some interpreted this "rest" word in Hebrews 4:9 as Sabbath keeping, including myself. Some interpreted it as "eternal life". Some interpreted it as "in Christ". I just wanted to use this opportunity to hear the reasoning of them all...

It is the perpetual Sabbath rest of God into which we enter (v. 10).

It's ceasing from our own works (of merit) and resting in His.

So we have one saying it is the millenial rest (even though paul said we can have it now)

We have some saying it is a sabbath day. Although people have been resting on saterday since the beginning of time so that can not be it.

And we have some saying we (as God did on the seventh day, rested from his work) can rest from our work. and consider the work of God no work at all (even tribulation.)

I think the third one is the only one which fits.

No, katapausis and katapauo mean that, Sabbatismos means keeping the Sabbath.
Ceasing doesn't mean keeping...Hebrews 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
