This appears to be a hot topic on here but here is take on it. I do believe you can fall away from faith, Its so easy to become concerned with life and its easy to crave more success and money or a promotion. little by little it can take your eyes completely off gaurd until you become luke warm then from there you really could care less about God.

But there is something I would like to say, If one truly got to know God i mean really seeing who he his falling away is simply not possible because you will be so in love with him thats he is all you want. During my day i truly treasure my time with him, i dont pray for more things physical or spiritual I just sit there talking to him. I get to know him much better when I dont ask for things and just talk.

I crave him more than air and I stumble all the time but because I know and love him so well i could never give him up. But other Christians who fell away from faith didnt do so because they werent saved in the first place they just didnt know God enough. Their salvation is still waiting for them they only have to taake it back

I understand and knowing what I now know, I don't think I could be torn from the love of God. But ten years ago when I was taught OSAS. I was going crazy, I was bound by sin, but yet knew I was saved. I didn't know what was going on. I was bound by alcohol, the adult Sunday school teacher and preaching 2 Sunday nights a week.

The OSAS doctrine could only tell me that I wasn't really saved. I knew this was wrong. I gave up and became a full time drunk. I pit my wife through hell and my children. But, she never gave up. There were times that she threatened to leave and left for a week or so. I couldn't work nor provide for the family. We were on food stamps and help from churches and family.

I went to this Pentecostal church with my wife. I had a pint in my pocket. The pastor gave the altar call and I sat there. Then He said if you have been in Christ and have fallen away. Jesus still loves you and He wants you to come back. If thats you would come down to the altar. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I went and I put that pint on the altar and then I reached and took it back. Then I felt hands on me and people praying in a strange language. I said God if you help me I can do it and accept your Son Jesus Christ as my Savior. It was like liquid love poured all over me and then I noticed that I was speaking a language that I did not know. I have been free from alcohol ever since and live my life as best I can for the Lord.

So take it as what you will. I know what I've been through and I have seen it time and time again as I preach in prison and rehab centers.

My take is the following...

1. I am sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise which is the prepayment of my inheritance in Christ
2. I am in the Father's hand
3. I am in the hand of Jesus
4. Jesus said that he would loose NOTHING that he has been given
5. God said that whatsoever he does IS ETERNAL nothing added or taken away from it
5. Jesus said...after we believe that if we deny him he CANNOT DENY himself
6. If you believe you are HAVING everlasting life
7. If God is strong enough to save, he is strong enough to keep saved
8. My salvation is based upon the WORK AND FAITH OF JESUS WHICH IS PERFECT
9. The condemnation of the law is removed from those who believe!

Not to Adam, put yourself in Adams bare feet. Adam was perfect, walked with God in the cool of the day. Yet failed, and there is no record that he ever asked forgiveness.

He was even clothed by God when he realized his nakedness. But, not until Seth was born did men call on the name of the Lord.

There is evidence...when Eve had Cain she had believed the report of Genesis 3:15 and in the HEBREW it states that she had gotten a man child THE LORD..she ignorantly believed that Cain was the promised seed......

Yes, but she was wrong and again men did not call on the name of the Lord until Seth.

This is true and this is the position of such....So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

But there is something I would like to say, If one truly got to know God i mean really seeing who he his falling away is simply not possible because you will be so in love with him thats he is all you want. That is your opinion but God has already given us a way to remain in him and not fall.
2 Peter 1:3
According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
2 Peter 1:10
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

I crave him more than air and I stumble all the time but because I know and love him so well i could never give him up. But other Christians who fell away from faith didnt do so because they werent saved in the first place they just didnt know God enough. So you are saying they were saved by grace through faith and they fell away from faith which they never had because they weren't saved in the first place? Because they didn't know God enough. And somewhere between here and there they lost salvation but it is somewhere waiting for them all they have to do is take it back.
What version of the Bible did you get that from?

falling away from faith is not falling away from salvation. that would make salvation a prise which must be earned, and not gift which was given freely.

falling away from faith has extreme hazards. for 1 your chastened by God, most likely God will lose every door of happiness you even think you might get (he did that for me)

number 2 you may end up going home early, as walking away from God an always lead to fatal choices.

because adam was on his own, and long as he earned the right to be Gods child by his actions.

one he sinned., he lost the right to earn his right to be a hild of God. and had to be GIVEN that right via Gods grace.

then why did God seek him. Why did God cover his nakedness by killing an innocent animal, and introducing death into the world.

Do you even contemplate these things?

How does that work, you are saved by grace through faith but you can fall away from faith (have no faith)and still be saved. If that is so then why have faith in the first place? What you are saying is one can be saved without faith.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

So you will deny the omniscience of God. In knowing EVERYTHING you will do all your life) and by this work out your own reward of salvation?

Faith of a mustard seed an move mountains.

The man who had a sick daughter asked Jesus to help him with his lack of faith. Jesus did not tell him to go away until he had faith then come back. He healed his daughter anyway.

the bible says of God even when we are faithless, He is faithful, he can not deny himself.

Stop trying to earn your way to heaven, repent and give your life to Christ, and let HIM SAVE YOU.

Adam choose to sin. Eve was beguiled. Adam choose to be with Eve over his relationship with God.

God allowed Adam to exercise his will. God already had the plan of salvation in place before Adam was made. Redemptions plan was with God ever before God created the world.

I dont think thats quite right, because God does not want half our hearts he wants it all. If going to heaven was as easy as accepting The lord as our savior but then having faith no relationship with him then the luke warm Christians have it made. Increased faith is evident of a relationship with Christ but if we dont have a relationship with him then we will have no faith.

salvation is indeed a free gift but its up to us what we do with it.

then it is not free. it must be earned by how well we work for it after we get of it, take care of it, perfet it, however you want to say it

and no one is saved unless they have true faith (not mere belief)

that does not mean their will be times when our faith fails us.
